Always hard without seeing a pic of the plant, I mean they could go longer but if the plant is going to start to get old and lose it`s smell and so on then unless you have a real need for more amber then you can lose quality of your end product
I think all of RM3`s hard work and lovely pictures go to show us that "amber" is something you have to work for from day 1 of veg if you really want all the amber you can get while other sugars and terpenoids are at their best too

I've been intrigued by your boiling method since the first time I saw you mention it ~6mos ago. I think ima boil the shit outa some roots come ~3-4 days before chop day. I have to at least try it on 1 plant
REM..do you know what it is that contributes to the trichs going through the various stages and ultimately turning amber. is it solely based on time? im asking because i have several plants that are well over there recommended harvest times and i still have no orange. i start flushing between a week or 2 before what is said to be the correct harvest times and i end up with extremely yellow leaves and no amber. can you offer any input or suggestions on this

First never go by the finish dates from the breeders, I have never seen one that was correct. Second there are actually strains out there that don't ever make amber. Third I never flush at the end IMO waste of time and weight.
With all that said What strain(s) is it and how are you growing it

Well where I come from plants take in nutes and convert them into sugars and proteins and such. And a good cure makes everything right. I do boil em at the end but that just speeds things up. If you read this whole thread then you saw the various smoke reports on my gear. You could also read some of my older threads like The Truth about Flushing or Wow Riddleme has a question. If ya wanna fade em at the end there are much better ways than flushing

Hey @RM3 , got a couple questions...
first, are they done yet?
Second, with your boiling method - one of the ideas behind this is to prevent starches and sugars / food thats stored in the roots from getting back up inside the plant right? So ideally the boiling water should be poured through the medium right before lights on, to sever the root system from the upper portion of the plant before any direct light hits the leaves - correct?
Are there any specific signs you look for, after doing the boiling method, to determine when to actually pull the plant out n hang it? I saw you mention you leave them under the lights for a couple days after 'boiling the roots' , so I'm guessing that's to use up as much of the 'food' left in the leaves as you can n kinda fade out the plant prior to drying. Just curious how you decide how long to keep them under lights before actually choppin' the plant down.
