Area with 1000hps & mover??

yea man youll love the mover esepecially with a 1000 i added one and i love the results, i can get the light closer to the girls without fear of frying them, i saw a noticible diffrence within 2 days. i dont let it sit for 30 seconds though, i keep it moving without much delay.
hey guys this is my first post, but i wanted to comment on the 1000 hps. I actually have a 1000 on a rail right now and I have a 6x4 table with 24 plants on it. And from talking to a few people at grow shops n stuff, they have said that it will work beautifully. They are still pretty young but are looking good, and with mylar on the walls around the table they should all be getting plenty of light. On my first grow that we just harvested a few weeks ago, we had 5 plants in a confined space with no rail, no mylar, and no grooming and we got about half a pound from it. I want to put some pictures on here but im not sure how... it asks for a website address. . . what do i gotta do to post pics?

You shouldn't need a mover. With a good hood you should be able to cover a 8x8 area

holy where do u get ur lights??? impossible...
1000 covers 4'x4' area, MAYBE stretch it to 5'x6', but u'll be spinning plants around daily to catch the light

1000 on a 6' rail should do a 4'x8' area without havin to move ur plants. use inline hood, then buzz ur lights 10 or so inches from the tops, no problem

Hey brother.. You helped me out in another thread already, so I hope you don't mind my asking you yet another question.
I am going to get a mover for my 1000w lamp and was thinking about getting the 3' extension as well. Is 9' just too much distance? Even if I kept it running 20 or 24 hours would the plants still be deprived? Just wondering if I am trying to stretch this thing out a bit more than it is worth.
I am planning to make my system under the light 4'-5' wide. Now I just need to know exactly how far I can get that rail to run (effectively) so that I will know how long to make it.

You should not need a light mover using a 1000 watt light for the size area you will be growing in.

I am looking to purchase a light mover for my 1000 watter also.I grow in a 3x3 grow tray in a 4x8 area,I have another 3x3 grow tray but I wouldnt imagine tryin to grow both trays with 1 1000,that is the reason for my interest in a light mover.Bricktop you grow in or have grown in a 8x8 area with a 1000 before???I add my other 400 in winter for my other tray because the 1000 is not enough.

I have in the past grown with a 1000 watt light in an area that was just slightly less than 8ft by 8ft and it worked perfectly well for me. Due to space constraints in my present home I no longer use a 1000 watt light but based on my past experiences I see no need for a light mover for such small areas as have been mentioned in this thread when using a 1000 watt light as long as you have a high quality reflective hood.
If someone is using a low budget 1000 watt setup with a very basic low quality reflective hood then I could see where a light mover could be helpful, but otherwise, no I do not believe a light mover is needed, at least not in my experience.

High quality reflective material when properly applied can and will make a world of difference so if someone already has it or installs it I do not see any need for a light mover for the small sized areas being mentioned in this thread with 1000 watt lights. If high quality reflective material is not used a light mover would be helpful.
　
The information I posted for the area size different wattage HID lights will adequately cover actually claims smaller sized areas for most wattage lights than some claims I have read. I have seen information that claimed a 1000 watt light will cover an area of 10ft by 10 ft and as much as 12ft by 12ft but I do not believe either to be close to accurate but 8ft by 8ft with proper reflective material should easily be covered by a 1000 watt HID light.

The number of plants and size/height of the plants would of course vary depending on what I was growing each time. For one I am a firm believer in large pots, much larger than most people here believe to be needed. Several members of my family and I own a pot in pot nursery and I know the problems that a root-bound condition can cause so I never grow in anything smaller than 5-gallon pots and normally grow in 7-gallon pots. The 7-gallon pots I use are 15 inches across and depending on if I was growing a sativa, which I prefer, or an indica or a cross that was predominantly one or the other would dictate how many plants I could comfortably fit in the slightly less than 8ft by 8 feet space since I do not like to cram plants together causing more shading for the lower portions of the plants and making the caring for them more difficult.
　
I never grew more than 8 to 10 plants at a time and sometimes I only grew 6 at a time. I could have grown far more, even using 7-gallon pots, but I never had a reason or need to grow more at one time.
　
Height also varied depending on what strain or strains I grew but normally I would end up with plants no less than 4ft tall (indica or predominantly indica varieties) and some sativas almost ran me out of growing height with an 8ft ceiling even though I did not veg them for very long.
　
I never grew for sales so I did not try to squeeze in a maximum amount of plants. I have always only grown for personal consumption so quantity of plants always took a backseat to quality of plants. Of course I wanted to maximize the yield I would get from the number of plants I grew at a time but I never attempted to grow a rain forest worth of plants in my home.
　
I could see where if someone were to cram in as many plants as possible a light mover could be of assistance due to the light rays coming from different angles/directions and therefore possibly penetrating deeper than a stationary light would.
But then even though leaves look green to the human eye that is the result of the chlorophyll in the leaves when light rays strike them and the leaves are actually translucent to light rays and a 1000 watt light will penetrate through multiple layers/levels of leaves so unless the plants would be very tightly packed where there would be many more layers/levels of leaves for the light rays to pass through, and due to that not being able to penetrate as deeply as normal, again a light mover would not really be needed for the area size the thread is about.

I am trying to maximize yield so that is why I am interested in a light mover.I have 9-11 plants at a time in my flowering room I have somewhat limited vertical space so I scrog.I would like to double the plants but I dont want to loose the light intensity,I would need to move the light between both trays so the edges wont receive the same amount of light.I think it depends on what your going for.Thanx for the insight.

hey, holy i was readin the advise from the other posts. just try coverin an 8'x8' area with 1 1000. ur buds will be half the size, less light = less plant and less thc. simple as that.
like i said, i have 2 1000's on a 6' rail. my room is 12'x8'. i KNOW thats what i need to cover 8'x8'. People tryin to tell me how to use my equipment. keep ur shitty advise to urself...
as for a 9' rail with 1 1000, try it out, that might be stretchin it but it might work just fine. try only runnin it for 18 or 19 durin veg. might as well. just try gettin the light as close to the tops as possible. if ur still not happy with ur results, maybe the rail is too long

Ya I have a 1000 watter and we are using a 4x6 tray with 24 plants in it. we are also trying to maximize yields so lately i have been concerned if we are gonna get the most buds out of our plants while moving the light back and forth across the six foot table.Should I get another 1000w and keep them towards the ends of both tables or am I gonna be happy with the yield I get from what I have now? I also have mylar up around the whole room and keep the light about a foot and a half away from the plants.

well u should get away with using 1. u r probably giving the plants on the outside a half-spin every day to catch the light? or r u just doin a sea of green? anyway, if u notice the edge of ur garden is thin and reachin for light, and u wanna get every plant their best, then maybe think about a mover. u could get another light to cover more area, but u'd be doublin the electric bill, and a mover is usually less than another light. and u can compensate for the less time they spend under the lights by lowerin it as low to the tops as possible so they get a higher intensity. also with a mover, u never have to spin or move plants
