Argument with a friend over socialism

What are you talking about?!?! American is one of the younger governments, relatively speaking. Your statement makes no sense.
Imbecilic JRH

Just pure Imbecilic.

The United States as far as continuity of power goes is the oldest government in the world. That does not mean that it is the oldest nation in the world, but that it has had the same form of government (Federal Democratic Republic) longer than any other nation.

If you're the best that our colleges produce, I'm glad I dropped out before they forced me into getting a lobotomy.

TBT spoke quod erat demonstrandum.

I would say he more a left leaning conservative.
Another Bush, I guess that is an apt comparison. Same promises (to be a moderate) during his campaign, but revealing himself to be leaning towards the extreme. Unfortunately, I have to disagree, because his policies reek of Fascist or Socialist goals of trying to create some kind of Utopian society. Some one should have told him that the grass is usually only greener because there is more manure used on the otherside of the fence.

Though, I did run into some British people when I went camping over the week end. Really interesting people, and apparently they care less about European Politics than we do, because they are more interested in what is going on here than in Europe.

They also seem to believe that it is BS that they can not defend themselves in their own homes due to the restrictions on firearms in Britain and the Byzantine laws that they have.

1. Funny wording on an old saying.

2. What programs do you think are fascist or socialist? And what parts of them that are true and not just implied by others that are this way to you, and is there something else in it that would counteract the claim that your making?

3. How is the system we have so perfect that we don't need to make some changes? I know your all for the strait constitution, but are you saying that there would be absolutely zero holes in society if we tried to follow just that 220 year old document? How many things today are new and never even dreamed of today that were back then?

Because technically then we should be allowed to hire children to go work in the mines.

It is because our crazy is so much sexier. They are talking about leash laws and we bust out matrix like storylines about killing little old ladies with bad drugs.

And no we should not have total gun restriction.

I wasn't trying to spread bullshit in an ignorant manner. I was told by my psychiatrist, who has a PhD and tons of history books in his office, so I assumed he would know.
unless you do your own research on history and look at both sides its biased. my parents have a ton of "history" books but they are only 1 side of the story. history has become a point of view. investigate true history from all points of view and you will see we are taught only what they want you to beleive. you will be amazed! look at bush now trying to rewrite the history of the past 8 years. fact distortion.

False TBT! I even provided proof. At least counter the evidence instead of resorting to attacks of ethos. Both Rome's republic and empire lasted longer. Greece and Sparta's polis lasted longer. Aboriginal governments lasted longer. Native American governments lasted longer. The US does NOT have the oldest government in the world. It doesn't.

And I never said I was the best at anything. I do what I do and would like to think I do it well. Stop hurling insults and respond to the damn evidence. How can you think that the US's 200 year history trumps two of Rome's periods of government when they were clearly longer? Answer.

And where the hell do you come off? You think you're so damn smarter than EVERYONE on here, but have nothing to show for it. You hurl insults and have the most high and mighty tone I've ever seen. Education should humble people and you have NONE. So where do you get this false sense of superiority over everyone here? You and Cracker act like authorities on EVERYTHING, but it's granted by no one but you. It's sickening. You call me dumb ALL THE TIME, but at least I have ethos and credibility. If I act pretentious and erudite, at least it's in synch with my profession. What the fuck do you do?

Longest Surviving Government right now, no one is saying squat about the Republic or the Empire of Rome.

He said, "in the history of the world". READ damn it. In context, everything I said was accurate. Period. READ.
Nah that is not TBTs style. He likes to ignore things and re-argue old points that are already covered. I think it is his way to hopefully frustrate people. It is like watching a kid trying to pick up water with a sieve.
