Ugh I know. I lost the other 2 plants earlier this round. 3 months of work down the tube.

i know how you feel this last grow i had a top cola die on me during flower not sure why but it died and everything molded i tried saving some bud's but at the end of the day i had too throw everything away. im so sorry man i know how you feel the same thing happened too me this last grow.

Not only air flow but try to keep your day and night temps close if you’re indoors. If you’re outside not a lot you can do.
Try setting up an ink-bird with a space heater and dial the temp in within 5 degrees from day to night helped me a ton.
Look on the bright side if they got really big and dense you didn’t something right so don’t let it get ya down to much just work on dialing in your environment

^^^^ this is something I think people underestimate the importance of, and also keeping humidity relatively stable. Big temp/humidity swings (like when lights go out) can cause condensation inside the buds, which makes it super easy for mold to germinate.

How do you know it’s aspergillus?
I understand the causes, which at least means I'm making progress in my learning right? 
The plant had some major calcium deficiency starting a few weeks in to flower. I topdress with OPTIVEG but stopped to early this time (have to use RO water since I have a sodium water softener.)
The new humidifier I got had a few days the past few weeks where I didnt refill in time, leaving a spike down to ~40% during lights out.
Lastly I had fallen behind on defoliation, leading to all the problems that arise when the above two factors are added in.

I mean, I may have assumed, but there were heavy populations of pinhead fruiting bodies, small off-white to yellow to like a rustish color, deep in the insides of the tops

There's like 100 strains of aspergillous too right?. The reason no one talks about it, is because if they did do proper tests they would ruin half the industry Is my guess. Especially the organic farms. They don't even test for it at all in my state either, so probably 10-25% of the cannabis sold at the recreation stores is contaminated with some form of it. Especially the stuff they sell for cheap. Some farms put out nothing but brown mildew smelling & throat stinging buds, that is obviously moldy, but not botrytis.... If they tested for it, all that shit would be gone probably, but instead the state wants the money?

Sounds like aspergillus to me. I got it in a few buds last year, had never seen it before then. It's definitely different and I would say even more obvious to spot than the usual grey cobweb-looking botrytis mold.

Definitely. It looks nothing like any other mold I've seen on cannabis (except in my tent 3x). No cobwebs, just little spheres deep inside the buds.

Pictures or it never happened. I’ve only seen cottonball mold on buds jarred too soon. Never saw it on living tissue. And lower humidity would not cause it.
As I understand it it's a systemic thing. Spored are invisible too, just because you see fruiting bodies doesnt mean the spores aren't everywhere. It was heartbreaking for sure, but my lungs don't need anything else to fuck them up, Ive done a great job over the years myself lol.Sorry for your loss
