Aspiring cannabis cultivator

Hey everyone!

My name is Drew. I decided to join the forum through my desire to gain and share some cannabis knowledge and maybe even build some solid friendships. I'm 20 years old and I am currently majoring in Horticulture at South Dakota State. With this major I plan on narrowing my studies specifically to cannabis. I am a huge advocate of organics, and growing organic marijuana is my life goal. I figured this forum and it's members would be more than helpful with my area of study. I think marijuana is a wonderful plant and I am glad to see the current trend here in the U.S.!

Also, I can roll a beautiful blunt.
That's all.

Welcome to the forum! I am a biology major finishing up school late. I've also become entrenched in the organics side of gardening and recently started a vermicompost. Should be a fun venture.

My Father graduated from Michigan State in Horticulture. I have been growing avidly as a hobbyist for years. I had read some books and of course had my experience from the farm when I was growing up. I never knew anything until I started reading riu several years back. It's important to read every word and follow instructions. Always cross reference any information or try it on a test spot. :leaf: RIU has some neat features. Try clicking on an Avatar (the photo over on the left). Then you know about that person. There are little blocks under the name for how many kudos they received and a button to give one at the bottom left. There is a like button on the right to place a like for a good post. Hope you like the site it's hoot.

Hey Drew! I know a few folk who have made a living studying horticulture in school and making a living off their knowledge - mainly through teaching or dispensaries/teaching. It's an intriguing and very open path (for the next couple years). Welcome to the cultivator's family : )

Glad to hear you're involved in organics as well, more work but definitely worth it!

Thank you! I'll take your word for it. Can't wait to start applying everything I learn from RIU.

Oh boy, I haven't been on this website in way too long. A lot has changed since I made my first post about three years ago. I'm happy to say that I have received my Bachelors in Horticulture!

Anyways, I came back to RIU for some advice that maybe one of you can help me with. I can't seem to find the proper forum to post on so I figured I'd just bump my old post back up to the top.

Do any of you have any recommendations for someone who is looking for a job in the Cannabis industry? I'm not currently living in a legal state, which may be my biggest issue. This leads me to search online for possible job opportunities, many of which lead to dead ends, or no response at all from the job poster. I'm just looking for some suggestions as to what I should do if my goal is to land a job in the cannabis industry.

I appreciate any help!!

Drew
