Attempting to prove Spinosad can handle PM

So. At the end of the summer I had 3 og kush auto seeds left over. I decided to pop them and say fuck it as I have other plans come in March for outdoor grows.

One of the plants this morning began to show some PM on the leaves.

I have said to many before that spinosad can suppress the pm and in many times kill it off if your complete (which I have accomplished earlier this year)

I am going to attempt to prove this to the community with this plant.

My intent is to allow the PM to spread a bit and then apply the Spinosad.

I will continue to update this thread until either PM wins or I do.

Love that stuff as an ipm...was able to get it ONCE here in Canada..caught and confiscated my next attempt.
I would spray with high ph water one time, spinosad(Captain Jack's dead bug brew) the next. Very effective for a lot of pest problems.
Fakn Canadian rules blow...

Being an outdoor grower for years this stuff has been a huge help. Thats shitty they have it blocked from Canada.

I've never had an issue with it. I stop 2 to 3 weeks before harvest and only use it if there is a problem.

Its a soap. I make dawn and garlic spray as well for other plants in the yard. Just dont want to spray my weed with garlic lmao.

But yea never an issue. Dont know about Washington though.

Yeah, I've used it as well. Shocked me when I heard it was banned, I still have a bottle. Haha

I wonder if its specifically the Spinosad or the PH of the liquid being sprayed onto the plants. Something to consider.

The only two ways I've consistently and reliably fought PM is by good genetics and Lost Coast Therapy. Lost coast works really well.

Il test the ph of the spray before I use it. Not something I have considered.

So. I went down the rabbit hole which is actually a fairly funny statement as you will see reading the 1st paragraph of that I found.

LD50= legal dose
Dermal= applied to skin

Essentially they found it toxic in rabbits at a dose of 2000mg. They allow a specific ppm amount per vegetable for acceptable range.

However then it went on to this.

In Hydro systems it can actually be taken up by the roots. Its a neurotoxin that affects the bugs central nervous system. In Hydro it can be ingested by the plant.

I grow in soil they found it has zero uptake in soil.

Here's the big deal and the deal breaker for me. Outdoors it remains stable for only 3-7 days due environmental factors.

Indoors they found it stays stable up to a month.

2000mg is alot of Spinosad tbh. Thats what it took to make the rabbit sick (50% mortality rating). Although I highly doubt it has any significant impact on me being the only plants I have used it on were outdoors and at a fraction of the rabbits legal dose im probably safe. I will not be using it on anything indoors.

But that's the point of indoors. Controlled environment where you dont need it.

I would like to thank those who made me think twice about it.

I didn't think it was ever used as a fungicide. Best to try to prevent PM by every means at your disposal, once you get it you can knock it back a bit, but you'll be stuck with some. I wouldn't spray spinosad for PM, I'd try Potassium Bicarbonate first. Biofungicides, neem/silica, regalia (if you can afford it) and potassium bicarbonate all work really well in weekly rotation to prevent PM. Now I am going to complete this challenge mind you lmao.

The 2000mg it took to make a rabbit sick when injected into his skin vs the 500mg watered down and sprayed evenly across the whole plant while I am 230lbs is a bit of a real low level concern.

The plant is small I would be able to cover it with a quarter of a spray bottle. So thats 125 evenly distributed across the entire plant including leaves. I suggest it may end up being 5 mg per bud.

So the challenge will continue.

This is about the test not about finding other ways lol. I know the other remedies. I have taken care of pm with Spinosad in the past.
