its not going to be a full 5x5 grow area. the actual area i grow on is like a 2'x4' space on that upper area. im going to have 2 10g dwc bins with 2 plants in each so 5 plants all together. then for the lower 3'x4' area im going to have another 10g bin to act as the res. btw here is the light it is one of the best ones iv found on the market and for a decent price

http://hydroponicshut.com/pro-grow-250-watt-led-grow-light.html

its a 7 band 250 watt led pannel with individual switches for flower and veg states red / blue and they use 3watt bulbs for the flowering lights to penitrate the canopy.
pluss shipping is free too.

well these are the light system im going to start with...... there will be more maybe a couple cfls for the veg.
Anyways, back to the room. to make it air tight i used gap filler foam from home depot to fill in all the little air gaps the room had. next i put up black plastic around the inside of the room to protect from water and moisture damage. next i installed the two 200cfm inline fans one that pulls air off the side of my house and the exhuast which blows off the top of the roof shown in the picutre. FYI im going to be growing on the 1' high 2x4 where the water bottle is sitting on. next is the mylar.

When you getting started? I'm thinking about buying the exact same light. Hope it doesn't let me down.

so i was running the fans last night to check the noise levels throughout the house and i noticed a large humming sound that they were making. Even though they say that these fans are vibration free they still make what ever its bulted too vibrate a little or make a humming sound. To take care of this problem i did a little reseach on the roll it up forums. i found that free hanging the fans works great so put up some hooks and used bungie cords to hang both of them. I also read that you can buffer out the sound of the air flow in the hosing by wrapping them in a towel as soo. so in conlusion everything is quite as rock now :") one other thing i noticed it was pretty chilly up there this morning . i had a low of 55 last night in the room so im looking to get a space heater since im going LED lights which doesnt give off any heat such as an HPS system. so far this is my favorite one due to the inexpencive price , its digital, and it's automatic which turns on and off if it gets 2degrees above or below the desired temp range. let me know what you think. is it a smart buy?

Nice. I just bought one on ebay for $349 +$18 for shipping. It's from the same people, but you have to bid and win the auction. I was talking to someone else who just did the same thing and it seems like they only put one on at a time, so if you want to wait you might be able to save yourself some money. Good luck.

ya i was looking at this one to buy until i found the one from hydroponics hut. its a good light but only powerfull enough to grow about 2 plants "HEALTHY" during the budding cycle. it does have a combination of 3 and 2 watt leds which is good. what makes me a little sceptical is that they say its a 240w but you can pick them up off ebay "buy now" for 209$ which is reallly cheap for a so called 240w led. makes me wonder a bit. the good thing about the other light is its 3watt cree led HO 7-band . where as this is only a tri-band i believe. hopfully this helps you a little

Thanks, but I haven't seen the Blackstar 240w on Ebay, and I thought I looked pretty carefully. When did you see it? (edit: I found it for Buy it Now $259, the 180w is $209.)

btw- I just saw a thread with this testimonial with a detailed technical post preceding it:

Since you've used to 90w 2009 model, care to share any photos of your grows? How is the 2009 model for vegging only?

No. I'm not a sales rep. Just a grower who recently did a butt load of research before committing to LED grow lights this time around. I wanted the best LED light I could get my hands on. After buying the Lighthouse 2009 model from Gotham Hydroponics, I started an e-mail correspondence with them. In those e-mails they gave me some very detailed information about their products. I figured it would be in the interest of all to share that knowledge (they did not tell me to keep it a secret). They did ask if I wanted to make a video promoting their product on YouTube in exchange for a good deal on the next light I buy from them. Thus far, however, I'm strictly an enthusiastic consumer of their products and have not profited in any way from endorsing their stuff.

As for photos, I wish I had taken some during the first four weeks when my clones were growing in soil. I, and other growers were quite impressed. Unfortunately, when I switched to hydroponics, I made some big Ph and nutrient mistakes, and then went on Xmas vacation! My young (5 week old) plants nearly died. I came back to a Ph of 8.6 and an EC of about 2.2. I corrected those problems and my plants are now growing rapidly again. I'll consider some posting some pictures when my plants fully recover...

Be careful with gotham hydro(all led companies really) they have been exposed to some extent. One quick way to prove it to yourself is check our their grow boys competition. ohh. its a made up magazine(that closely resembles a real one) with dead links on the site and no information on the lights other than this one won.... how very odd. Also i believe they use some LEDs (by cree or bridgelux not sure) that those companies don't even make... odd again.

Not saying they are bad, but definitely a shady company.

As for the one OP linked, looks good. Do some research on this specific one, see if CREE offers all the lights listed in those wavelengths. Also ask the company if ALL the leds are Cree and not just a few. It could be 2 CREE 3w leds and the rest chinese knockoffs. also dont forget no one exists to police these companies, they say whatever they want. Oh and dont piss em off, in the rare case they will try to get the local cops involved (since your probably growing pot). This may happen if you use their 90 day guarantee. Keep in mind this isnt that company, but just be careful.

This light also has the Lighthouse Hydro logo on it, but they sell it without the discount ...that is curious.

???

Thai Boy's detailed testimonial at the link I posted goes into an extraordinary series of posts lauding Gotham Hydro as very customer friendly, responsive and legit. Plus there's all the technical info there vouching for the quality of their led lights.

I don't know, personally, but Thai Boy is pretty persuasive, and his experience speaks well of the staff at Gotham.

We'll see, I guess.

OK have you people actually read Thaiboy's posts? he says the same exact(word for word) things that gotham hydro says in their ebay posts. That doesnt strike you as funny? how about the fact that be just happens to have various years and models of their LEDs to test and just by chance is able to test their new models? not strange at all? I would understand if it were one of the "vets" of the site, someone respected and established as a solid grower, yet some anyonomous person? hmm. I mean how easy is it to create an email account, then create a fake random grower to provide your own company with positive feedback? I mean if you search under his name for all posts all but about 1 of his posts are a plug for gotham hydro....

People i dont want to denounce a company nor tell you what to think. What i really want is for you people to think for yourselves. Always question the bullshit out there.
