Autoflower Questions. I'm sure they're been said, but I'd appreciate the insight.

Hey guys, I'm currently planning my next grow and just in the ordering phase. It will be my second grow, and first with good seeds. I'm currently in #1 and getting the hang of things. I'm ordering seeds, and had a few questions about autoflowering seeds. I know they're autoflowering because they just switch when they are ready. If I were doing some auto and photo in the same batch, would it hurt anything? I guess I'm wondering, say the autoflowers start to flower before my photo's. If I'm running a 18/6 schedule then the auto's start to flower. Then if a couple weeks later I switch to 12/12 to start flowering my photo's will that hurt the auto at all? Are Auto's supposed to just get 18hours all the time, or can you switch during flowering stage? Any info on this stuff would be great.

I'm not the most knowledgeable, However I did order a bunch of seeds and received some freebies that were auto flowers. (Blue Mystic.) I planted them with the rest to see if I could clone them. I couldn't get them to work. They do what they want regardless of the circumstances. I kept the mother under 18 and 6 and it flowered anyway. I gave up and threw it in the flower room so I could get something out of it. I don't see how you could screw up the auto flower including it in any lighting situation. That's my take.

autos will flower under practically any light schedule, going from 18/6 to 12/12 they will continue to flower but your overall yield from them will be somewhat reduced.

Auto will keep flowering no matter what light cycle you use although they give a larger yield under 24H of light, production would be 50% of its potential under 12/12H & I'm pretty sure the potency would also be affected. You can grow auto with HPS, MH, CFL or LED it's your choice...I would prefer HPS but personally I'm growing 4 auto under a 1000w MH one in each corner with favorite regular mother plant in the middle. I'm more into regular plants than auto but I have some room left around my mother plant so why not using it anyway? With the fans & everything my mother plant set-up use 1300W at 10 cents/kilowatt hour it cost 21.84$ per week of power considering my auto are done in 7 weeks & yield 8-10 once total for the 4 of them, at harvest only one once pay for the 152.84$ of power use by the mother plant and the 4 auto making this a very valuable way to use spare space.

Ok if you want to mix photo's with autos try this- autoflowering strains usually take 2 months of flower (as i have read they are in veg for 20 days so the rest of the time they are flowering) this is what i am going to do when im set up, plant the autos 1 month and 20 days prior to germination of my photo's. Then buy the time my photo's are planted my autos have been in flower for 1 month on 18/6 lighting, then 1 month after this my photo's will be flowering and my auto's will be harvested. This may not be the most efficient way of doing things but at least i will have some bud while my better photo strain is growing.
