yea they around 3-5 inches tall and they broke through the 4th of this months ill take and post pics when i get off work later on tonite they do look kinda stretched out how would i go about fixing this problem???

Well it all really depends on your lights. If you're using CFLs, they should be no more than 3 inches (preferably 2) from your plants at ALL TIMES. If you have poor air circulation and temps build up, then you will have to move them back, but after about 6 inches the amount of lumens hitting the plant is seriously diminished with CFLs.

If you have HID lights (ie: High Pressure Sodium or Metal Halide) you will want seedling no more than 12 inches (preferably 10) from your plants.

That being said, the specteum also matter a lot! If you are using CFLs with a low Kelvin rating (ie: 2700) then your plants will stretch almost no matter what. You want a high Kelvin rating (ie: 6500) for the first couple weeks unless using an HPS, but even then a MH bulb works better. The "Soft White" bulbs are usually the 2700K with an orange glow, the "Daylight" bulbs are the higher 5500-6500K bright blue or white bulbs. 5500-6500k for the first 2 weeks, then 2700K till harvest for autoflowering strains if you're using CFLs.

Peace

kolorblind judging by your posts you know auto's pretty well. So in your opinion is what mine is doing just part of its life cycle or is there something wrong? It's still growing bigger, its not stunted. And besides the fan leaves seems healthy. This is by the way my second grow and first auto. These pictures are about a week old, it looks worse now I just didnt feel like taking more pictures. I just spent 2 hours harvesting my first grow which was bagseed. What a chore that is.

If you have any questions on pollinating feel free to ask, its so easy a caveman could do it :P Also, for a better description of how AF plants work, check the very first post I made in this thread if you haven't, it may help answer a few questions too.

Thanks for the info, totally makes sense the way you broke it down and sorry if you are repeating yourself as I have not had time to read the whole thread.

I am 3/10 on the sprouts with the AK/LR beans, never been my strength as I am better with clones. Thinking about pollination now that you mention it, but I am not even sure these are AK/LR as promised.

Yeah the plants arent stretched nearly as bad as I had imagined. As of now they look pretty good, but I would definitely lower those lights to about 3-4 inches from the tops of your plants. If you keep them that high the plants will really start to stretch in the next week or so.

Well, I had some of the same looking stuff on my plants a few weeks before harvest, but it doesnt look like you are that far along. It looks like it could be a deficiency of some sort but no telling what kind. What kind of nutes, soil & lights you using? Are temps high? And how old are the plants? And yeah trimming buds isnt as much fun as you would think huh? lol, took me and the wife almost an hour to trim up 2 Diesel Ryders that were less than 10 inches tall each. My fingers and hands were cramped up for hours.

Well shes under a 68 watt cfl and 2 26 watt cfl's 2700k, miracle grow seed starter soil and I am using fox farms grow big because I was thinking it was a nitrogen deficiency, temps are probably never higher than 75 because my AC is on all the time. Oh and the plant is approximatly 55 days old. Here are a couple shots I just took of her.

i read in this book that the blue lights promote shorter, stouter stems and the red and orange lights promote longer thinner stems the book is marijuana garden saver by ed rosenthal im gonna try to use the 2700k and see how it goes they continue to stretch switch back to 6500k

Ahhh ok I didn't realize they were so far along, that picture from the side shows their age much better. Well i would say your number one problem for sure is the soil. That seed starter mix has NO nutes in it at all, and it's definitely not a nitrogen issue. I would say for how far along the plants are they look pretty good. The plant is stealing energy stored in the fan leaves to fatten the buds up. As far as the dead patches on the leaves, I would use that grow big on your next batch starting at like day 14 at 1/2 the amount, then use some kind of BLOOM nutes after the plants are about a month old, starting at 1/2 the amount then work your way up.

Also, only use that seed started mix for the beginning, once you transplant you should use some better soil. If you don't wanna buy foxfarms (don't blame you if you don't, shit is expensive) then go to a hardware store or nursery and buy some Sunshine Mix, or Pro Mix. These mixes are primarily peat moss with some perlite and lime added for ph. Those mixes will provide a MUCH better medium for a flowering plant to live in than the seed started mix.

If you cant find any of those, even Miracle Grow soil would probably be better. Just don't buy organic MG soil unless you want to do a lot of PH adjusting. Buy the regular kind with the least amount of nutrients you can find in it. MG is not designed for cannabis so most of the stuff in it the plant doesn't need, and its lacking some things it does need.

Don't worry at all about your current lady, in about a week or so she should be completely finished anyways. I'm thinking if you use different soil next time, grow big nutes early on and bloom nutes later your plants will be MUCH larger and healthier.

Good Luck!!

Kolorblind, when doing a seed run, how long do you have to wait after you harvest the seeds before you can plant them? I've heard that you have to wait 6 months or something but didn't know if that was true or not.

hey man, i can help ya with that, as i just went through making my own seeds, for the first time...i crossed white rhino and hashberry, and ended up with bout 40 very healthy seeds...i followed this: https://www.rollitup.org/advanced-marijuana-cultivation/20319-seed-production-tutorial.html.
Ended up harvesting the seeded branches at the same time as rest of plant, hung em dry, then picked the beans out...i left mine out in a cool dark place for a couple weeks, then they went to the fridge in a jar with a dark outside...to test germination rates i germed 5, 4 popped, so there good to go...hope that helps...happy growing...

Yeah I have heard claims of 6 moths, or that you HAVE to let them dry in a cool place. Im sure if you let them dry, put them in a cool place for 6 months and then plated them they would be fine. However, I got 472 seeds off my last seed run so I figured no big deal if I try to germ them early and they dont crack. I put 20 of them in a paper towel to germ, and after 2 days all but 4 cracked, a day later 3 more cracked. This was just under 1 month after harvesting. Hope that helps.

Can any one give me any advice on watering autoflowers. Like how much water per gal of soil?

While your answering the first question, for a 18 day old LR 2 would you suggest giving it a full dose of Grow Big?
