hey, where can I find that pro mix soil at?

If you live near a hydro shop, they can usually get a hold of any soil or soiless mix for you. ProMix or Sunshine Mix are my 2 favorites. A hell of a lot cheaper than FF soils, and they work great! Add some perlite and blood or bone meal and you got a nice airy soiless mix. You can then add your nutes through watering, so that your soil doesnt burn the plants.

If you do not live near a hydro shop or dont like to go to them, local hardware stores or nurseries will usually carry ProMix or Sunshine mix. Just look for something that is higher priced than the cheap soil, and has primarily peat moss WITH some perlite in it already. Nute free is always a plus too. I always stat my seedlings out in 70% Sunshine Mix 30% perlite and add a dash of organic blood meal for nitrogen.

Peace

Well, this thread certainly is interesting. I've just finished reading the whole thing. Whew.

I see a lot of good info and also a lot of confusion.

My criticism is with the info on organic fertilizers. Basically, the whole thing boils down to bacteria. If you have no bacteria the fertilizer is worthless. In order to establish bacterial cultures in soil you need time. It takes 4 to 6 weeks to fully establish a full culture. So if you don't put any organic fertilizer like some people advocate until the 3rd or 4th week of growth and it takes another 4 weeks to get the bacteria growing in order to make the nutrients available, then you only get a bit of fertilizer at the end of the cycle when you really don't need it or want it. This would be okay for a 120 day sativa but for a plant that is dead after 8 weeks, it makes no sense. If you put the organic fertilizer into the soil at the beginning of growth it would only begin to be usable after 3 or 4 weeks, just when you need it. You need to culture the bacteria, not the plant. Bacteria need steady temperatures between 72f and 82F, soil that is evenly moist, not too wet and not too dry or they will die and you need to start all over. Stand water to get rid of chlorine or you will kill all the bacteria.

A plant takes up water from the soil and that is the only way it can get nutrients. The water travels up through the plant and evaporates through the leaves. The higher the humidity the less the plant can transpire (evaporate) from it's leaves. And the higher the humidity the less nutrients there are available to the plant. So by increasing the humidity, you are slowing the growth and weakening the plant.

If you agree that the Ruderalis genes have been selected in these autoflowering plants, then it makes sense to look at the growing conditions where it is native. Short summers with long daylengths with little rain and low humidity.

You sure about that bolded statement? I guess you have never heard of foliar feeding?

Quick questions
when a strain says this

will finish in any light cycle, including 24 hours of light
Can you adjust the light cycle multiple times w/o the plant going into some sort of stress?

Does the light cycle difference change the final outcome of the product?
(i.e. The yield, potency, growth, etc..)

Was looking to try 60 day wonder, just wanna get some more info. I like the idea of autoflower strainsa and wanted to try them out for some time now and though the new one from DNA would be cool

http://www.dnagenetics.com/online_store/60-day-wonder-feminized-cannabis-seeds.cfm

Also,

How do you guys do the nute transition from grow-bloom, or do you just cut grow nutes out? I wanted to use some of my Advanced Nutrient additives is that gonna be ok in small doses or not worth it?
Thanks in advance for the help :D

Sup jeffdog......light cycle: i believe that one light cycle from start to finish is best with the autoflowers my prefered is 18/6 but there are arguments that you can change light cycle when they begin to flower,, i have just completed a grow with one constant cycle and am more than happy with the results/yield,, i have yet to see any autoflower journals where the light cycle has changed so as far as affecting yield i couldnt give an accurate answer :?::?: If you were to try the autoflowers i would defo reccomend Easy ryders,, massive yielders, short grow time and day to day growth which makes it much more intresting to watch
Nutes: i just used standard veg nutes <vitalink>began at quarter strength for a week, changed water half strength, changed water full strength, then changed water but continued process with bloom nutes<vitalink> i am aware though that they are intolerant of to much nutes so my advice would be to go easy,, less is more sort of thing.
Mine was grown in NFT hydro kit 400whps,, its in my sig if ya intrested...
Peace.

Hey Growlow. Good information.

Do you use veg nutes on the seedlings when they are just 1-week old? I just wanted to make sure I was reading that correctly.

I've never tried that, but the best luck I've had is transplanting the seedlings after three weeks and giving the plants some veg nutes before I go to bloom.

Hey J.D well obviously grow conditions ,enviroment ph,nute levels etc..... play a major factor,, but i was not far off 3 oz per plant, bud from bottom to top :-P:-P there is even tales of 96 gm Easy ryders!!!!! but also tales of whopping 8 gm monsters hahaha As for the 60 day wonder i have no idea but i suppose if there not massive yielders what they loose in weight they gain in speed??? Guess its just dwn to personal preference
Let u8s know how you get on.
Adios.

When i say one week i mean after the propigating< probably more like 2nd week of life> for when they start there first light cycle to help the plant root into the system............. I see this is prob not to recommended but its the way iv had success with:-o:-o
