I have experience with a UFO only grow, I have 3 of those bastards. I had them in a closet that was about 2 ft deep, and about 6 foot wide. They will veg your plants out pretty good. The autos responded well to them and started to flower at day 21 like they were supposed to. Its just they dont produce bud like an hps would. I am just finishing up a grow that should have been done a few weeks ago because we were using all LED and it was going SLOW. So we ordered a 600 watt hps cool tube setup and after a few days the plants started to explode and it was like they just started t flower again. There was new growth everywhere. White hairs out the ass. And right before hps was put in there they looked like they were trying to finish up but were small ass buds. All of my autos are finished. I had one were the buds probably tripled in size after the hps was put in there. Long story short hps is your answer, you would do better with a 250 watt hps, than you would with that 90w. I did all the research, looking a light spectrums, the different out puts of individual led diodes. Phytocromes react to a wide range of light spectrums, I would use LEDs as supplemental lighting, because it would enhance the spectrum that your plants are getting from your hps. I have seen dual grows, hps and led, that did very well. I am going to use my 90 watters for vegging. Thats about all they are good for. Maybe if you had them in a very small space and had the light super condensed, then maybe it would be intense enough. I would still thing you would need at least 5 or 6 hundred watts of LED to grow something comparable to what a 4 watt hps could do under the same conditions.

Oh yeah, cfl and ufos do pretty good together too, ufos are just missing the intensity you need I guess. A single ufo with about 4 cfls 45-100+ would do very well. I understand not wanting to use a lot of power, and dealing with the heat of an hps can be a bitch. But in the end you get out of the plants what you put in. Which is why I went from 270 watts of LED to 600 watts of hps. I wanted to stay small, but I wanted better plants. So one beats out the other, and I went with better plants rather than staying small.

LEDs are the future still I believe, its just at this point they are not where they should be at a reasonable price. You need the LED units that have at least 10+ different color diodes in them, and they are very expensive. Even those are not where they need to be for them to be a replacement for hps. It can and I think will be done. Someone in China made a single diode that was a few inches in diameter and produced several hundred thousand lumens. But cost millions for them to develop. And I think only two out of like five worked properly. I dont remember exactly its been a while since I read that. But needless to say if they could put a couple of those in a room hps would be out the window quick. Especially if those diodes were only a few hundred watts. Because you need a few thousand watts with hps to produce what a single one of those did. As fast as LED technology has grown in the past 5 years, the next ten, saying we dont all die in WW3 by that point, or mother earth hasnt gotten rid of us fleas on her back, then we should have some pretty bad ass LEDs to grow with.

i just dont se the penatration of light with leds, as with the hps or m/h lights. that why they dont grow werth a shit under leds.i would waist my time with them .you want the best bud you can get, so get the best lights you can get, and leds are not it.

i was planning on growing in an area about 30"T X 30"WX 24"D. I don't want all the heat and power usage associated with the HPS lights right now. I was planning ou putting mirrors around the inside of the grow box... would this be a good set up or would i gain much from adding a couple T5 bulbs on the walls of this grow box?

DONT USE Mirrors the conduct heat and will fuck you up!!! use milar, or get a tent ( like mine is 24w*36d*72T ) and if you set it up in the right way heat is not a problem ( cool fresh air from ac works great ) use cool tube for hps ( the best lights ) heat wont be a problem i also went the added of carbon filter for smell sound and heat are all good !!!! check my journal !!! and thread https://www.rollitup.org/indoor-growing/339082-lowlife-ak-47-400w.html

TY its funny the one that turned purple is the one that didnt get its second set of leafs till she was a month old glad i didnt toss herAh mate, that purple bud close up is sexy as. Nice one
well lets hope so she is 13 days from 75 now i think and looking pretty close to done, i put them outside to start my next batch of DNA 60 day wonder so i can put them outdoors in this alaskan 22/0 light schedual. But the spot i had to put them i think only gets a few hours a day of direct. But as for weather gloomy 55 and cloudy with a chance of rain till friday ='/ should i pull them back in i really dont want them to get but rot or mold or ANYTHING lol.

Damn I dont know but big. How tall are the little ones? Mine are 10 inches at 28 days. I wonder when autos usually stop growing taller. Like 6-7 weeks?
