Autoflowering Strains in Hempy Buckets, need help!!!!

Hey Guys So I need help figuring out how to start auto flowering plants in hempy buckets -
And I was just wondering could I just plant the germinated auto directly into the final container after I watered the hempy bucket normally the first time (water until water comes out the side hole, then stop)? And then after that just top feed it twice a day until the roots hit the rez? But water it, till the water comes out the hole, once a week till the roots hit the rez, so the water in the rez is replaced with new water and oxygen?

But just another question, but how do you know when the roots hit the rez when you cant see the roots in the hempy bucket?

Also because of the short veg time of Autos should I use a 3 gallon hempy bucket instead of a 5 gallon? And not be concerned with root bounding problems?

Sorry for all of these questions, but this is my 1st time with autos and hempy buckets so I just need some help and guidance from some experienced growers in this area...
Cheers!

wow, I don't understand why its been such a hard time for you guys answering my questions! I mean I look around on Rollitup, can't find it, so I post a thread! What else do you guys need? And its not like there is much information on auto flowers and Hempy Buckets on rollitup anyways so I thought people would be willing to help, but hey looks like I am wrong... Because I think I have it down.... I just need to clarify some things!

I dont know why you would want a hempy bucket..... But I'm not here to question your wants or motives..... Just to try to help ya out a bit. My thought would be to run a DWC , It is easier IMO to control things more accurately . But yes you could plant directly into the final container and in autos it is the way most do it , I do not though. I start my seedling in a solo cup or in small grow bags, I wait till it is ready to transplant and then cut the container away from the plant. You could pick up a few grow cubes and start them that way if you wanted to also. Either way I dont experience much/any stress from doing it this way . Then just water it once or twice a day like you said.

You didnt comment on what the strain of the auto was but being that most are small/medium plants I would opt for the 3 gallon bucket. I would not worry about it being root bound as in the lifecycle of the auto they rarely get big enough to become root bound unless your a super awesome grower or doing an active hydro system (ie: DWC). Honestly the buckets will work but I would run a DWC system in a 3 or 5 gallon bucket. You can control the conditions far better and all it really costs is the cash for the bucket , air pump, stone and ph tester or ph strips. You're talking less then a 20 if ya price match shit a walmart and you're results would be almost guaranteed to be better then the bucket.

As for your second post on lack of responses to your thread, I think it might come down to the lack of people using the hempy buckets, To me it is just a system with more flaws/negatives then positives to make it viable for most to use. There is however a world of info on autos here if you look. Your also not wrong about people on here wanting to help others but it very well may take more then 10 hours to get a response on here . Best of luck with your grow , If you need any more advice or have any more questions, Feel free to ask :) BB

Hey I help people I would like people to help me and I have a medical card in Colorado so that is none of your concern and I have a great attitude bf80255.... Rollitup is a community and if you guys can't be a community bf80255 why be on it! And thank you BB the only reason I posted that was because I had other questions that never had a response.... lol but anyways life goes on, and I have always wanted to try DWC, but I thought Hempy buckets might be an easier option to try first... The strain I am going to be doing are Royal Queen Jack Herer Auto and Barney Farm Blue Cheese..... But because tight on cash and I will be just running the hempy buckets for now and the next time probably do a half and half to see which one does better... But thank you for your help BB!

that was a rhetorical question in regards to the way you were throwing a tantrum over not receiving assistance.

yes my friend, RIU is a COMMUNITY....

com·mu·ni·ty
kəˈmyo͞onədē/
noun
noun: community; plural noun: communities
  1. 1.
a group of people living in the same place or having a particular characteristic in common.

  2. 2.
a feeling of fellowship with others, as a result of sharing common attitudes, interests, and goals.
one must first adopt the common attitude, interests and goals of our community before being allowed into the fellowship and whining about how cruel the world is to you is probably one of the worst ways to do so.

Good choices on your strains, I hope the hempy buckets work out well for you and you have lots of bud to show for your efforts by the end of your grow. :)

OK. I am a hempy bucket dude thru and thru. There are other ways but, this is how I do it.

Germ seed in a rockwool or peat whatever. Wash out your hempy bucket with perlite real good. If it's been used before, I'll poor the old into another bucket, agitate it and clean the old gunk outta the bottom of the bucket and rinse the rest, add new perlite to top it off. Plant auto seedling in the final bucket. I use 3 gallons now, used to use 5 gallons. I think 5 gallons are over kill cause I like fast autos. Then just add a few ml of straight water every morning around the base until you get a node or two. And began your watering regimen. I do Lucas Formula so, every other day. OR! Do it once a week, but you may still need to water everyday around the base in increasing amounts until the roots reach the res. Like increase to a cup of water or whatever. Think about trying Lucas Formula. So much easier and perfect for hempy bucket growers.

Bottom line. Adding a little water at the base of the seedling may not actually do nothing. But, it gives me peace of mind so eff it. ya know? 3 gallons for fast autos. Maybe 5 for slower.

REREAD I edited the crap outta the original post.

So when watering, the way you are doing, before you plant the seeds do you fill up the rez with a normal watering first?

I am definetly going to be trying the lucas formula, but I didn't read about it until after I already order Jacks Classics Blossom booster, All purpose fertilizer, and the hydrangea blue. I heard this mix does really well in hempy buckets to, but when I can I will be most likely switching to the lucas formula.... Just another question, But when you feed every day does it still depend on the "lift method" or not all? Also, when you use rockwool cubes, I hear that they are really bad about holding "too" much water around the seedling and could cause stem root? Do you have this problem? And BF80255 before one can be accepted into a community, the people of that community must accept that person first, all that was meant by that post, was so I could get some answers, not to piss you or other people off....
Thanks!
