Hi guys just brought the 4 pot autopot system. Looking to get 4 going same strain and in coco/pebbles/perlite.
Looking for any tips and warnings about the system and how well it does.
In particular I've read some things about ,"up-grading" the tubing any clear info on this as it would seem you'd need to uogread all the fixtures and fittings?

Nobody's really sure(atleast to public) where Hans went, but this dude has AutoPots down. 2 things though. The system was invented to not need the air domes you can get them if you wish but they are not necessary. The other is in the other thread you posted in, the rez does not need air pumps or chillers and that's how that guy clogged up his tubes. Just set the rez outside the tent and it stays cool. This is a great read on the pots, hope you take something from it.

use Matt's with auto pots ,root barriers .Stops the roots getting through to ball cocks ,also use a air ring going to a fish tank pump ,not to powerful though or it will kick water over edge of trays .compressor for rre.If your using a nute line ,then hand water pk spikes ,I found its these that cause blockages.been using em for about 13 year

Massive help guys! One of my main questions is having the res in/out the tent... Having 47liters of liquid inside you tent must fuck with the humidity.. but then having it outside had potential for disaster leaks etc. I'm a suck it and see kinda guy with stax of patience. If it don't go right I'll try again changing what I thought went wrong. Again thanks for the help!!

Ok I’ve been running them for probably 4 years. They’re the easiest grow method I’ve ever used. Upgrade to the bigger hose. Don’t use airdromes. I do use my a bubbler in my rez I use a 30 gallon. Use a clean nutrients. I use Dyna Foliage Pro only in feg. 2 weeks into flower I add Dyna mag pro. So I’m running 3 parts FP 1 part Mag pro durning flower.
I also use pool shock mixed at a rate of 26 grams to a gallon of water. I mix 2 ml per gal in my rez. I average 1.5 GPW with a 30 day veg. I feel if I only ran 1 or 2 strains I could easily get 2 grams GPW if I wanted to stick to my best producers.

Nice one!! Helpfull info, have you ever used Canna nutrients in the system? I seem to get a scum on the top of the watering can I'm using. So it's likely going to be the same in the res when I set the pots up. Might have to change nutrients.
What bennifits do you get from your bubbler?
Also is the big hose better because it fills the trays faster or because it blocks less?
Do you need differnt aqua valves to use bigger hose, or do you just reduce the pipe down before the valve?
Sorry for so many questions dude, sounds like you are getting great results and i would love to replicate :smile:

I never used Canna
I use bubbler just to keep nutrients mixed.
bigger hose is used off rez and is the main line. Still has small line going to auto valve. It puts more pressure in the line so if there’s some slime or something it will blow it on through line. Trust me go a head and use the bigger hose.
I also you promix which is a peat base. I tried coco was no better and more trouble.

Nice one man, makes sense now about the main line. I couldn't get my head around why there was no 16mm-16mm cross connecters.. get it now!!
Have you ever had blockages/leaks?
do you keep the res in the tent or outside?

With the small hose I had a several. With the big hose I don’t think I have.

Hi mate iv done 1 grow with auto pots its lookin rearly well but iv just ordered some more but gona try coco 60/40 with clay pebbles iv always grows in soil but herd Coco is better with autopots do you have 2 use a cal mag right through your grow any tips welcome

I hadn't had to use calmag I like Promix it's a peat base. I've been using the same Promix for over 5 years now. Why switch when what I'm doing works

I was reading an old thread with a fella called hans, he seemed to no his stuff about autopot, he used calmag right through his grow, but was growing in Coco, I wasn't sure if it was best to use it as iv not grown in Coco b4 but ma be his water is different to were I'm from

I put a link in this thread from AFN with Hans and his grow. He was the best person i seen growing with these pots. Definitely one to look at for knowledge even though he isn't active anymore. Here is a plant with 100% coco out of the bag. It had some perlite but didn't touch it. No pebbles. No perlite for bottom inches. No air domes. And no air stones in the rez. Just coco and a plant. These are from Sunday and the stalk is even thicker. They have about 6 to 7 more weeks of flower if i remember when i saw pistils.

Can these auto pots be carried from veg room to flower room or does the entire system have to be moved?

I'm looking for 8-16 6.6 gallon pots. Where's the best deal and what upgrades do I need to make immediately? connections lines etc?

Anyone make good homemade ones, I've got a supply of reservoirs Ive done very well outside with homemade earthboxes just never tried inside

Im looking to get away from single plant waterings every 2 days

Reading you is gold. How big did you increase the main hose and what fitting did you used to reduce to 6mm?

PS: will switch to promix next time

I’ve been using autopots for a couple years with good results. I tried at first with bottle nuts but was always having trouble with salt buildup causing clogs. About a year ago I started with living soil and just using plan r/o water. It works well for me. Haven’t had a clog since. You do have to use about 50% perlite or clay pebbles or it will retain too much water. I’ve also used 50/50 coco perlite with happy frog dry nutes with success.

hello autopot sells a kit on their website to do this. It's 1/2 hose. You probably could go to Lowe's to the irirgation section
