Auto's in Aircubes and other stuff

Thought I would put all my mess in one spot....so we got autos going in an Aircube system and also in dirt all fed with Jacks321. I bottom feed soil grows through the AC Infinity self watering bases. Keeping the bases full allows roots to grow into it for a hydro/soil combo effect. :eyesmoke: More on that in a few.
This is current Aircube grow....about a week in. All except bottom right plants are the Sweetseeds Jealousy z XL. The last is a auto bag seed that just happened to be in the right place at the right time.20240914_081335.jpg20240914_071439.jpg

Soil grows are in 3gal bags of FF soil usually. OF or HF or a mix with perlite added also.
In the 4x4 I just harvested a couple Banana Purple Punch from Fastbuds and the 2 smaller are the same. The one in the corner is a Tropicanna Poison from Sweetseeds. I know my floors dirty...just pulled a couple out. :eyesmoke:

The hydro tent has a MH fc8000 with a set of their old uv/ir bars...plants are probably coming up on 2 weeksish.......hoping this journal will help keep track better lol.

3x3 tent has a couple Tropicanna poisons(tall ones) and 2 Top Gun auto's from Atlas seed.

Then we have the kitchen grow under cheap Chinese lights.....I bought 3 100w lights for $24 :eyesmoke: bought as emergency backup but got a couple of them going now in the kitchen lol.
We have here 2 Good Shit autos from Phoenix seed(won in a contest!) on the left and the others are bag seed autos in solo cups and perlite. I had a hand full of bag seeds from autos from last few years and thought I'd pop a few to see what happened...these had been through the grinder and no care taken to preserve them...had about 15.....13 popped :wall: so I culled a few and took 1 to the hydro tent and the rest we have here.20240914_080005.jpg20240913_101612.jpg20240913_101633.jpg

So when u get time maybe u could give me a little info? I know u get your reservoir right. As it drains and recirculates back, do u tend to drop or raise in ppm n ph? Is it a once daily adjustment to keep it right where u want it or multiple times?
Do u want it to drift up or down as they feed or are u looking for it to return to reservoir the way u sent it out?
Just trying to wrap my head around it. I got my system cause my time is extremely limited and I thought...I need to be more automated, w waterings and such. My soil grows DO get neglected on occasion. I'm 50, still wrk 12 hr days 5 days a week. 3 younger kids (we started late). So time is precious to me.
Any info would be appreciated. In your own time.

I've heard that if it comes back with higher ppm you have too much nutes....lower ppm add more nutes....definitely something to it, but I just try to keep mine in the mid 1500's(700 scale) and it tends to hang there for a few days. The last 2 grows my ph would slowly rise over a couple days...I started mixing my Jacks 321 in the right order and 0 ppm ro water and now it slowly drops over a few days. Keep in mind that now my rez gets 5 to 10gals/day added back to it with fresh nutes because I also use it for my soil grows now. I just dip it out and pour it into self watering bases for soil grows. Depending on how many in flower and what the hydro girls drink the rez is basicly getting changed out every couple days. I'll be honest I haven't drained and cleaned it in months :eyesmoke:
So yes...once a day rez check/treatment. I let mine drift from 5.8 to 6.2 so right now I let it get down around 5.8 and ph it up to 6.2 and it would go for days without adjustment.
I also was apprehensive on making the move to hydro with only soil grow experience.......it's so simple I wish I would have done it sooner. I use 1 mix of nutrients all the way from seedling to harvest in everything I grow now.

Good info. Thanks for your time there. So no need for u to use anything like hydroguard or something to keep your res clean since u essentially change it out so often. I've read a lot, just not practiced it.
You've really got me interested in breaking mine out...seems once dialed in it would be a time saver. I do almost a sog style I guess usually, a little larger than most sogs.. 18-22 in 2gal pots in 4x8. So lots of time in watering, up to every night when they're booming.
Anyway, I appreciate your response. I'm gonna keep checking in on these, killin it in the auto department. Great work.

I use Hydroguard every now and then when I remember :eyesmoke: I bought a chiller for mine also to keep temps under 73f....found one on Alibaba for $170 which I was later told looks just like a name brand one priced at over $400. Let me know if you need a link.
Be prepared for more/faster growth than you've had before.....these things will grow monsters whether you want to or not! lol
A 4x8 I would put no more than 8 buckets unless you want to spend all your time defoliating them off each other. I had 6 in a 4x4 and ended up culling plants to make room for others....4 in there is still more than needed to fill the tent.

I see. A chiller may be necessary as I'm in same room as my wood stove...obviously didn't consider the finer points in all this. Fyi, I ordered lights off alibaba 3-4 yrs ago. U REALLY have to research the vendors to get the right stuff. I got 2 quantum boards, 480w, Samsung chips, meanwell drivers on the slow boat for like $550 for the pair. A little stronger than the sf4000 and almost 2 for 1 price wise. Legit too, stamped, stickered, lasered. They kill it. Bought 2 more still boxed at home.
Meijui. Not to be confused w the bad vendor w a different spelling, meiju maybe. Something like that anyway. More expensive now, and fast shipping will cost u, but I wasn't in a hurry so I took the 45 day boat ride.
I had to tear down cpl wks ago, just as I started a journal looking for a little guidance. When I set back up I'll have some decisions to make.
