Not much point, you clearly are not interested in debate, just wanna trash autos. And yes, I realized I was in the minority when I posted, just wanted to bust up the photo circle jerk. Get with the times dude, it is quite easy to find autos with 20+% THC and Yields over a pound.

How would (you guys) know what spice tastes like anyway if you guys grow such awesome photos? Grow whatever the fuck you like, but you just look old and ignorant trashing autos just to trash them

I'm pretty new at growing but but its been a frosty ride. I'm thinking if its actually cheaper, i live in a bordering state so i know a few people there and they get good hydro a half for $70-80 and the grow operations that are doing this are so large and efficient they make pretty good profit . I guess its cheaper but i would just rather buy and my comparison my mind still stands. And this is all pretty new imagine in another year

I've grown a few auto freebies myself, they were not worth the time, some buds were pretty but they were weak, i also have smoked some autos that a friend grew, the buds looked even better, but same effect, low potency weak high, they are just not worth growing in most places especially indoors
@orange haze I don't know where u come up with the idea that you can get a pound from an auto, not sure why people would grow these indoors when a clone put in 12/12 will finish faster than the auto for the most part.
@Clankie I would try Dr.Greenthums Iranian crosses, they are $150 a pack for ten FEMs plus one free but the Iranian is not an auto it's a short season photo plant, I grew the Iranian chemdawg this season and they were all done by the end of September with a potent tasty smoke and a good yield, can't go wrong IMO, I'll be growing it again this year, btw I'm in ny and lost a lot of bud to mold this year but these did just fine, emerald triangles blueberry headband was finished around the same time with good mold resistance as well, the smoke was good but not as good as the Iranian chemdawg

As far as I know, most autos I've seen are marketed towards outdoor growers. I would personally never grow them indoors. However, for people who have the ability to grow outdoors in terms of space and functionality, but do not have a long enough growing season to grow photoperiods outdoors start to finish, they might be useful. I don't understand people who are like "I don't like this weed, no one should grow it!". I grow habanero and bhut jolokia, but I don't go around shitting on everyone who grows poblanos or anchos. Cannabis is a plant, people can grow whatever kinds they want. The thing that bums me out is that I know that there are a few shops here in CO that market outdoor autos as real weed, neglecting to mention that its "auto white widow" or "auto diesel", but shops are always being all shady like to make a buck. They've been falsely promoting herb as long as they've been around, but as I write this I know that plenty of dealers have been doing this since long before legalization. God knows how many times I bought Cough that was just called Cough because it made you cough, before I met a guy who grew the real deal. However, in my experience for every shady grower, there's at least 3-4 growers who are doing out of the love for the plant. That's why I'm always pushing for everyone literally everyone to start growing their own hemp and cannabis. That's also the quickest pathway to real decriminalization.

and also, if growing your herb is more expensive than buying it, you are doing it wrong. You can't immediately expect to set up shop and start getting crop after crop of chronic, it used to be pretty common knowledge around here that your first crop ever would be middling, your second crop would be better, and by your third crop, you should be growing chronic. Nobody who doesn't already have substantial horticultural experience can just jump in and start pumping out centerfold quality buds; I grew two crops of crap before I grew one I was proud of, and I've always been pretty good with plants. In order to grow good herb, you have to not only know your nutrients and growing style, you need to be able to give each plant your growing attention and love; and this is why warehouse herb will never be able to hold a candle to high quality homegrown grown by a good gardener. But if a person is willing to learn, willing to improve, and most importantly willing to humble themselves before the plant, then anyone can grow the chronic.

@toniteyou you are absolutely right about the auto taking 2-3 weeks longer than stated, another thing with autos indoors is the breeders even tell you that the plants do better under a longer lights on regimen of 12-12, so it even uses more electric for the cycle rather than putting a clone to 12-12 or even a normal photo seed grown 12/12 from the onset that will finish at around the same time with a better yield of superior product

It was in a first round cycle getting 20/4 for 5 weeks and then switched to 12/12. Trust me, it wouldn't of be better.

Several years back I ventured into autos just trying to find something that was decent.......after trying many
breeders i came to realize that at best it was a turkey shoot...........I found what I thought to be one of the best
Breeders Mdanzig....super sour 60's non fem........for 2 years now I have been very pleased with the outcome of each crop...........I use LED blackstar 135's...say what you will but i have nothing but good things to say about these
Autos..........you only get out what you put in.........

I too have tried autos, and my experience is that I could not find an indica auto that would last more than an hour, hour and a half. The quality of the high just wasn't there compared to photos, and the tolerance issues were intolerable. I do have to say however that my experience with sativa Dom autos has been rather good. I got some 'Auto Seeds' brand Hijack as freebies and gave them a whirl. They weren't exactly landrace sativa quality, but were a respectable, acceptable, euphoric, high energy, day time strain, that lasted more than 2 hours. I do grow photos most of the time, but occasionally feel the need for that particular high, and pop a few. Generally I have to agree that the photos are superior, but if I feel the need for a satIve high, I do the Hijack an it satisfies my sativa craving, in 10 weeks, instead of a 3 to 4 month photo Sativa that is excellent, but an eternal project. I'm not noted for being quite that patient.... Just saying...nothing's written in stone and the autos are getting better all the time. I've been listening to this pissing contest every since I first came to RIU, and it never changes. The only thing in life that is consistent....is change I itself !!! I stand by my photos, but I do believe there is a place for the autos also. .........oh, and by the way, I don't care if you don't agree..I have been growing TOP shelf longer than most of you have been alive.......Like 47 years...... This is supposed to be a place of commeraderie, and learning/teaching, rather than an eternal squabble between "my dick is bigger than yours" don't know it alls. I'm currently thinking of just picking up two packs of Lowryder regs to start next spring, and then working some of the better autoflowering male pollen into my biggest and beastliest female cuts for an f1 generation, and then using the autoflowering males and females to produce a great quality of mostly autoflowering (hopefully) f2 beans. I'm an anticorporate anarchist asshole, so I'd love to drop a few hundred beans to give away with purchase at a shop so that people could steadily produce their own colorado-outdoor-viable seeds.

Look for fast finishing regular genetics from Canadian companies. Much better than autos which are largely total shit.

My Anesthesia from Breeders Choice was done beginning of October at a higher parallel. Would be done faster further south. Excellent smoke. Did well here outdoors.

Thanks for the post. I agree with your views on decorum, though I admit I reserve my right to respond when someone gets snotty. As to the autos, your points about sativas make sense to me, and might be worth a go.

I appreciate your laid back perspective, but if people are giving horrible advice, such as - autos can outperform photoperiod strains in terms of anything worthwhile (potency, yield etc) it's best to call em on their bullshit. No sense in letting someone who doesn't know any better fall into the same rut.

If people are going to spread misinformation I'm going to correct them. Autos are inferior in pretty much every aspect of the drug effects we are seeking.

To those defending auto, put up or shut up. I really doubt auto growers have grown photo plants or they wouldn't be so defending of them. Grow em if ya like, they are a novelty. If you think it's top grade smoke, all you are demonstrating is a lack of access to good ganja.

A few years back I ordered a pack of Paradise seeds and it came with a 3 pack of Pandora autos. Said what the hell why not and planted them in some buckets in my outdoor patch. One was a runt but the other 2 actually turned out better than expected. Got about 3 oz between the 2 big plants. Naturally it wasn't top shelf medical herb, but definitely worth the time imo. The following year I bough a pack of 5 and planted them all. 2 were lost in a severe storm but the other 3 were similar to the 2 big ones from the previous year. If your are strictly outdoor, which I was at the time, those couple extra oz in late June early July are nice. Anyone saying that are crap either doesn't know what they are talking about or didn't have a good strain. Like I said, they were not grade A top shelf herb, but they were far from garbage. Most people probably wouldn't even know they were smoking an auto, just average bud.

There may be some decent autos that may pass as regular, but there does seem to be something 'off' with an auto high.

Plus three ounces off two plants outdoors is as let down, it's not worse than indoors getting a quarter/half indoors, taking up 70+ days of space and resources.

Its just night and day the difference between autos and photo period plants.
