My girls are 2 weeks old today. This is my second grow, first in coco, and im having some serious issues now.

The edges of the leaves are purple. There are brownish blotches appearing at the center of the leaves going down the middle of them (as can be seen in the pic). The blotches started with the bottom leaves and are now starting to appear on the newer leaves. (pics below, sorry for poor quality)

What is causing this? I was under the impression that my nute solution has been very weak for day 7 to 14 from the research I've done. Based on that I have my doubts it is nute burn, but then again, I am still a complete newb grower so...?

Please help me correct this issue.

Here are the specs of my setup:
-Hindu Kush (100% indica)
-600w MH with a cool tube
-Humidity of 50-60
-Temp 78-83F
-75% coco 25% perlite medium with a tablespoon of mykos

I hand water ½ a cup every 3 days. This is the mixture of what they're fed:

My nutes are
Per gallon:
-Dynagro protekt 16ppm
-Dynagro foliage 35ppm (doubling this today)
-rapidstart ¼ teaspoon
-GH calmag 1/8 tea (doubling this today)
-Age Old Liquid Kelp 1/8 tea
-Earth Juice Molasses ¼ tea

Any and all insight is greatly appreciated

Looks like type of burn, not sure about it being nute burn, looks like heat or light to me, I would say heat even tho your running a cool tube

Thanks for your replies Dcheald.

Can't see the light either but by the pics looks very close
The pics weren't taken under my grow lamp, if thats what you meant.

Either way, I'm going to move the lamp further away to see if that helps.

On a side note, I had to water today, and I just watered with the foliage, protekt, and calmag doubled from my original post. I have a nagging suspicion that they're being underfed at this point, so we'll see how this turns out.

Thanks for your reply Dcheald.

Ahhh man, well, I watered while you made that post as I am in a crunch here and had to do it now. As I said in my last post I doubled my nutes as my solution was very weak compared to every single other suggested PPM for the first weeks for dynagro I've seen. I may be wrong though (although I hope not). We'll see how this goes though.

Thanks for your input, much appreciated.

Might be good, i always judge nutrient strength based on plant size. for me even 18g pots with lb-er plants still only get half strength nutes, jumping higher during certain times. but again im in soil which means probable dont listen to me lol.

k man well first off do not give any plant thats less then 1 month old nutrients. they dont need it and they will die from it. Also you ph looks off. You need to flush and stop giving it nutrients just trust the soil.

Just like oils aint oils, coco aint coco if you know what i mean. Get the pre mixed coco for growing dope, its expensive but works, not sure what is wrong with the coco you have but something is.

Well so far it looks like my girls have perked up a lot since feeding them double, although it has only been 12 hours since so we'll see.

I will test my runoff pH next watering. I'm assuming though you don't realize I'm in coco and not soil? :) In my research I had heard that you're never supposed to water coco without nutes because you're supposed to create a nute buffer in the coco that you're supposed to maintain, and if you don't, it will actually leech nutes out of your plant. I'd love to hear more opinions on this from experienced coco growers though.

On a side note, I'm doing drain to waste as well, or in other words, watering to 10-20% run off which is supposed to flush the coco every time I feed.

I'm using Botanicare coco from brick form. Is this a good coco brand for growing? What brands do you recommend? I'm definitely going to continue using coco as I already can see better results compared to my last soil grow, although I am still a learning newb and trying to dial in my methods.

Cheers everyone

I'm gona say, it's a baby, and babies don't like being force fed, they'll spit it back up. They don't need nutes all like that...I took a couple months (about 6) and did some experiments.

1) I had mixed up subs supersoil and grew 2 plants (OG #18...fed DG line of nutes.

2) I used some OLS (organic living soil) and grew another 2 OGs...obviously, no nutes.

3) I got some cheap ass Miracle Grow Potting Soil and grew another 2 OGs...no nutes, just transplanted into fresh MG soil before putting in flower.

I found that the MG did just as good with less headache and less cash as the others did, I have not used coco just yet, and IMHO, I will probably stick to MG from now on, less money out and the same return...Here's the MG at work...

I was told miracle grow is the worst thing to use since it has so many bullshit chemicals that will make your smoke taste like donkey ass hole. if i can clear this statement up id appreciate it. is it worth the hassle?

The issue with Miracle Gro potting soil is it not having the best balance of nutrients for mj as well as a high nitrogen content.

The chemicals in Miracle Gro are synthetic nutrients, same as bottles nutrients. Being synthetic, it's not organic, but it's no different than standard bottles nutes.

Yes exactly, also the commercial soil mixes (MG) have specially engineered chemicals that alter and make the chemicle synthetic based nutrients never break down and can feed plant entire life?Is great soil for plants do get me wrong, but if your looking for any kind of connoisseur product or medical product at all i would recommend staying away from ANY MG product or commercail soils, ( scootts, blah blah. Cannabis is not tommatoes needs different nutrients throughout its lifecycle, not just a battery full of juice constantly pumping nutes, which is what MG does. My only info is extensive googling because a grower and myself had this same arguement before, i eneded up changing his mind, get some roots ogranic or ffof. my two cents good luck
