Back-to-school-Monday

so that's 2 NO's. at least i'm not the only one.

"then" denotes time and "than" denotes amounts, maybe?

i will be there sooner then later.

i have more weed than you.

i think that's right.

to-too-two homophones (sp?)

The difference is.. "Then" is another word for "afterwards".. ex. then this happen, then that happened.... "Than" is a word used... well.. shit.. lol.. hard to explain...

ok lemme try the other too.... effect is what will happen, affect is what has happened... "The EFFECT of pot is that you will get high"... "Bob has been AFFECTED by pot and is high"..

I dunno that might be wrong.. it's a pain in the ass.. lol... screw it.. I'm kinda high anyways sooo... don't take my word for it XD.. get a second opinion.. hehe

i'll try and use an example cause its really hard to explain...lol.
1. "and then i went to the store" "im better than you"
you have the right idea for effect and affect...and as for the to-too-two...well we all know that "two" is the spelling of the number...and "too" is a shorter way of saying "as well" ex, "i would like a cheeseburger too." or "too" can be used when referring to amounts of things...like "theres too much salt on my fries" and then "to" is used the rest of the time, like "im going to the store" hope that helps clear it up...lol.

Than, a conjunction, is used to compare things.
Then, an adverb, is used with descriptions of time.
• Then, suddenly, Mr. Perez shouted, “I’m a better diver than you’ll ever be!”
• I think she looks dangerously skinny, but then, what do I know?

Affect, a transitive verb; to make a show or pretense of; to have, show a preference for.

Effect, noun; the result, consequence, outcome; impression produced; purport; efficacy

:peace:

Im pretty sure that's right. What do you go to school for???And sarahs 100% right about the to,too, two

than is used in comparisons.......like...this orange weighs more THAN this orange.....or that boy ran faster THAN the other boy........then is used when speaking of time....one boy ran and THEN the other boy ran....or we weighed one orange and THEN we weighed the other.......

effect has to do influencing something..like special effects ...

affect is emotional.....like just because everyone else is voting for Obama ,that does not Affect the way I feel about him.....

it's also the root word of affection....
