How do you know if your ballast is bad?
Facts:
1- my hps quit working
2- I got 2 new bulbs (1 MH convertible + 1 HPS)
3- Neither of the 2 new bulbs work
4- I can hear my ballast "humm"
5- Other items (i.e. fan) are plugged into same outlet and work
6- ballast and lights are compatible (all 400w)
(I got the ballast from a friend. He had it in storage. It quit working 3 days after I fired it up. All was working fine, then nothing)
