bag seed 217 watt cfl Closet Grow

Hey guys :) this is my first ever grow so I decided to go with cfls for one grow. I have 11 mixed between 6500 and 5000k bulbs equaling out to about 217 watts on a single plant. I'm giving 24 hours of light til the 3 week mark then I will go to 18-6 for 4 or so weeks then I will induce flowering. (Hopefully she's a girl) I'm at the end of week 1 and she has 4 main leaves and is about 4-5 inches tall. Is that a normal height for the first week? Here are some pics any advice would be 1400854723224.jpg 1400854786128.jpg greatly appreciated

she looks very happy. no yellowing. the only thing im interested in is, are the main sprout leaves supposed to curl downwards? should i be nervous about that?

No need to be nervous ...yet;)
Do you have enough height for a 7week veg?
Get the most out of your lights....mount them sideways or at an angle, most of the light comes off the sides of the bulbs.

ive got a total of 41" height to work with based on that. what week should induce flower? how would i mount then sideways? just flip the surge protector on its side? i want to get the most out of this plant

You can buy some bulb splitters, right now your fine but for when she gets bigger or you start flowering it,I would get some splitters, not only adding more bulbs but it puts them at a 45degree angle

As far as height goes..if your plant is 12 inches tall expect it to be at least 36 inches tall when done....You want to account for a 3x stretch in height when switched to 12/12.

With your height restrictions in mind.If you lst, top, fim, you can get more out of your plants with longer vegging times.

1400858111585.jpg I took your advice. And money is rather short til next week. So this is the best I could do for an angle. But I measured and I was way off she's only an inch and a half tall on her first full week. Is that normal?

Like I said you'll be ok for now and most of the light emits from the sides of the bulbs.

Lol...you took my advice but angled the top of the bulbs over the plant, angle the bulbs outward so the sides of the bulbs are facing the plant.

I took a picture of a type of splitter you could use with those plug to bulb adapters and you could use three bulbs in one socket...
One more thing ..you don't need that many bulbs now, maybe 3-4 now then add the rest in a couple weeks.Photo05231143-1.jpg

another quick question. how big should i let it get before i LST? and top?
Do some reading up on lst and topping. There's more to it than I'm willing to type out;)....nugbuckets's mainline technique is solid.Unclebens topping thread is a good thread to read.

Yep...back to topping,....imo now is a good time to top it.If you haven't done it before....read up.I do it all the time....Unclebens top once for 4 tops works...but normally it's top once for two mains and each topping doubles the main colas.

This one I've topped a few times and just supercropped some of the tops to help keep the canopy top level...

I hope this is a better set up lol I found a bigger board :) I wanted to maintain all the surge protectors I had so when it's time to flower I'll be able to use as many lights as possible. What do you think? Better?? I had to leave the middle one upright due to space issues1400870749681.jpg

Ittl have to stay this way sadly until I have more money. Should I also paint the board that holds the plants white as well?

Just stick some white paper on the board instead of painting it, heat from CFL won't make it burn and its a wooden board lolz
