Hey RIU this is a continuation of my first go-round with this set up, this time with bagseed. I killed my first 3 seedlings of killer seed basically from impatience and newbness, so I figured I'd throw in a couple bagseeds to try my luck. I'm not sure why I started two seeds in one pot as I know it's a sin, but I'm glad I did it now as I got to see both plants grow up side by side, both from different genetics. Check out the second pic below. The plant on the left was the male and was more Sativa. It wanted to stretch it seems at first but the CMH kept it the same height as the female. The male was very quick to flower. The female plant actually showed its preflowers first, so I thought it was going to be male, but within 3 or 4 days of those preflowers, the male formed its balls almost overnight. This was also the day that the first hairs started popping out of the female, so I knew then what I was dealing with. I'm pretty sure the female is mostly Indica, short and stocky with wide fingers, with hairs popping out everywhere as of today. I'm pretty happy with how this plant is coming along all things considered. It's not perfect but I've learned enough thru this grow to hopefully hit a home run next time with my good seeds. With two plants in there during veg and a short veg time, the Scrog canopy is pretty uneven, but each top has its own bit of real estate. I've let the bigger tops go now but I'm still weaving the smaller ones as they come up.
For those of you familiar with the Scottyball's grows on here, most of the ideas for my setup came from his journals. I have your standard mylar-lined grow tent with a single waterfarm unit, a 400W CMH, exhaust fan with carbon filter, and a scrog screen. I'm at about 67 watts/square foot with really good temps. My temps stay lower under the screen in the root zone, in the low 70's with lights on, and my hottest point at the tips of the canopy is in the mid 80's. Lights off its runs in the low to mid 60's, my ambient basement temp. With that much light in this tent I should produce some bud.
For nutes I use only GH Flora Nova Bloom with a bit of Cal/Mag. I like the Cal/Mag as I use mainly distilled or city tap water with low ppm, plus it adds a bit of Nitrogen. She doesn't seem to mind it either. She likes it around 900-1000 ppm as of late. I just did a fresh water flush last week as well for 24 hours and she loved it. Also I've been adding 2 tsp of H202 to every gallon since I chopped the male to hopefully combat any root rot as I do have a mass of dead roots just hanging out in there. The air pump stays on 24/7. My two main worries for this girl now are root rot and hermie.
Sorry for the book but I figured you needed a little background info on this mess. Feel free to post, I would love to hear your comments and feedback.
The 2nd pic is the two plants side by side as seedlings.
The 3rd pic is the male's flowers.
The last three pics are my bagseed lady.
