Not to defend the op, but you getting 9 out of 10 females on your 10 bagseeds seems pretty irrelevant. Some will be male, some female, I think he meant more in terms of quality.
It's also not "free" to grow bagseed. The only difference between growing that and a strain you ordered is the cost of ordering it. The lights, nutes, soil, etc all still cost the same. If you have both options available you also have an opportunity cost of not growing whatever strain you ordered or could order by growing bagseed. Being able to germinate plants is not my limiting factor, space and available light is, so if I use that space for bagseed that's one less other plant I can have.

I usually go to the local dope dealers for seeds when I start out new. And after all those fat girls are all done singing we have what we call a strain separation party. Of course I take clones from all the girls and code them.

the point is that bag seed doesn't mean you're growing shit plants. That's the point we're trying to get across. My bag seeds are DANK because we don't toke shit weed, so I'd rather grow bag seed than risk shipping issues considering I'd be ordering the same exact seeds...and the free part is because I now haven't spent to extra money on seeds, so yea...the seeds ARE free, which would make the final product "free" if you already had a pre-existing growing set-up.

nah the cop just drove by me and out here they have cameras on their cars that scan every license plate of cars they pass by.... i was on the other side of the road and he busted a bitch and came after me.... i wasnt even driving!!! but i had driven in the car before and got a ticket for driving with a suspended license about 8 months ago... i had a $50,000 warrant for driving with a suspended license.. did a weekend in jail, now im on probation for 2 fuckin years...

Well I ended up with 4 males bout of 11 I love bag seed as I was able to sell the males whooo hoo and as I fucked up a lot this grow I'm happy it was only bag seed oh and I have another bag seed purple lights and its kicking ass with some tlc

Here's some bud at 26 days into it's 12/12 cycle (bagseed from Red Dragon).
I have a few hundred of these, and about 50 seeds of Matanuska Thunderfuck (original strain from my home state that was kept unchanged since being taken out of Alaska back in 1978 by an old hippie buddy of mine), a bunch of Sour Diesel, a bunch of Some Day, a bunch of BC God Bud, some Trinity, White Widow, and a few others others. All bagseed, but from excellent strains.
Have grown about 60 plants from these seeds, all germinated within 3 days of dropping the seeds in soil, 100% female so far.
The only hermie action I had was from some pinhole light leaks that were taken care of as soon as they were discovered.
Haven't had a hermie since.
I currently pull 6-oz (dry) off of four plants under a 600w Eye Hortilux in a 48"x48"x60" tall growbox.
My current grow is looking way ahead of my last one, so should be a decent increase in yield over my last grow (not an expert grower, but have earned a few green spots on my thumb).
And I grow it to it's maximum potency (as close as I can get it) so it only takes a toke or two for the average smoker before they are couch-bound. Everyone I share my smoke with can only handle a couple of tokes before being overwhelmed.
While the high is a nice side effect, I smoke to offset the bad side effects of my prescription meds that are keeping me alive, and I consider myself only a moderate smoker who goes through a minimum of an oz a month, and can easily go through 1/2oz a week when my scripts are kicking my ass.
I roll cigarette-sized doobies and smoke them down by myself (when friends aren't visiting) to keep nausea at bay and make me hungry enough to eat, and to reduce the pain & discomfort.
I actually have a total of 560 seeds. How much would that have cost me through the seed sellers? Yeah, a shitload.
Will I be buying from seed sellers? Not any time soon.
Well, never, since I can also get clones of a dozen or more other awesome strains from various sources.
Not from lack of wanting to, but for lack of spondolas, and not wanting to risk losing what little spare money I have in case US Customs snags a seed order out from under me.
Plus, I am OMMP and would hate to jeopardize that by getting arrested for buying seeds through the mail (would be just my luck).
Will be using these seeds until moved into a place large enough to set up a cloning station of my own, then will keep four mothers of different strains from then on.
Bagseed ha' been berry berry good to me! (*an ode to an old SNL character done by the great Garrett Morris).

The only 'true' down side to bag seed is that you don't always know what to expect. You can't say they are always inferior genetics because what grower is going to grow crap weed when they have other options? Shwag weed usually is a result of improper curing/drying and how they are handled. I've seen videos of mexican grow ops where they are growing insanely dank looking bud and they keep just as good of records as any commercial grower. They take cuttings of superior looking plants and keep them for the following season. The problem is that that bud is usually put in brick form before it is even dry. This causes heat which will degrade the bud and many times mold will set in. If they were more careful with their processing and delivery it would still be of very good quality.
For my first grow I grew out a bunch of seeds from a few bags of shwag and kept the best looking one to flower. I did a horrible job with it but it turned out awesome. It is actually the plant in my avatar. When I chopped her she was purple/yellow/pink/red/orange and did the trick. I smoked out some friends who didn't know I grew it and they all said it was some of the best weed they ever had, and some of these guys are hard-core stoners who always have quality bud. Now if I had chosen one of the other plants I may not have had the same results. It's just the luck of the draw when it comes to bag seeds.

people tend to forget...all these seed banks charging gobs of money for seeds...that started out as "bagseed". all bagseed means is you got bud that was pollinated.all of these seeds come from plants that used to grow wildly...we didnt invent this plant...its natural.all of these top dog breeders got a random strain,crossed it with other strains..stuck a name on it..and jacked up the price.not saying that top name breeders are bad...but even the top name breeders put out shit seeds.if you think man can completely control nature then your way off..ive got great plants out of some random mid seeds...no i didnt know what i was getting...but does it matter too much...your either getting sativa or indica...if you want one or the other...then in 1-2 weeks you know what type it is...theres no waiting 12 week to see what you got.grow some good plants...breed them bitches.ive gone both routes...i only buy from breeders if im looking for a certain taste..the rest i control.and ive order some top dollar strains and gotten shit results...why...cant control nature...even if you name the seed..you cant control the results of a seed..its going to do what it wants...any bagseed can become a top named strain...where do you think all the top named strains started?
