Right-o. Not a great photographer.

Set-up:
4x 45watt 6500K CFL
2x Regular fan (one on intake, the one up top is exhaust)
6x Bagseed

The little pieces of Styrofoam are to keep the two stretched plants up towards the lights. Planning on installing an extension cord attached from where the lights are (in the third picture, where the cord for the fan is attached) and will put in four more lamps. Heat hasn't dropped below 85 degrees in a few hours. Probably steadily getting lower because nights creeping in and I'm leaving my window open.

Ordered a 1000 watt HPS, expected delivery is 10-14th of April. Have Ice on the way as well, should arrive anyday now. Hopefully before the tenth.

Planted them the 1st of April, except one or two of them, so they probably sprouted the 2nd or 3rd so they're about six days old.

According to this site:
http://www.angelfire.com/cantina/fourtwenty/yor/yieldcalc.htm

If I put a 1,000 watt HPS in a 2/4 room I will produce roughly half of what I can at 4,000 Lumens per square foot if I have 10,000 Lumens per square foot.
This is disconcerting because according to my calculations (130,000 + 8sqft. = 16,250) I have 63% more lumens than what would produce a yield 1/2 of what could be produced at 4,000 Lumens.

I thought more was always better o.0? Helps please D:!

lookin good, and with the hps problem, a 1000w is great for a 2 by 4 foot box. in fact, thats a bit of over kill if you dont want to spend all that money, a good 600w would do you good if your runnin short on dough. wouldnt put a huge dent in your yield either, smart training or a scrog could work out good as well. and i like the cfl setup, how far are your lights from the tops?

2-3 inches, but being forced to close the door the temperatures are staying above 90 so I'm removing two the lights. Rather have minuscule growth than dead plants. Additionally I probably increased the distance to 4-5 inches because of the heat issue. Any suggestions for a cooling system Mr. Hazey?

theres plenty of cheap and efficient a/c units, i got mine for 150. other than that, if you got your box in a small room id make sure it has proper ventilation, if your temps are already high in the room in my result in the box being even hotter. id clog up the vents to some other less important rooms, get another outlet fan and always have a fan directed at the lights so you can put them close.

ok bro first off your CFLs are too damn far away and thats why theyre stretching like that....and 1000 watt HPS is EXTREME overkill, just sayin. maybe like 1 600 watt or maybe even 2 400 watts...its just too small of an area and it will get way too hot way too quick..oh ya and clear pots are a no-no. the roots need darkness but airflow at the same time

good post, yes clear cups arent exactly good for root growth, but its been done. just transplant them as soon as they have enough root mass. and 1000w would yield a some dense nuggets with that small setup, but still, unnecessary. and heat problems would be huge if they arent already. and poke holes in your medium, 2" away if they're getting over watered. this will help them wick out, and break root ending and inspire new growth, great way to get them air too.

The black mesh around the cup was to block out sunlight. As for the distance again, I'm still having heat problems so that's the only way I can keep it below 91 degrees. As for watering and everything else the plants are doing pretty good, just that the recent stress is going to set back my schedule until I can get a low-wattage solution going... wonder how that bowl of water is doing in my fridge xP. Plus the 1,000 gives me the option to expand, even though I likely won't once I get a perpetual grow going but one can never tell the future.

should make a storage box into a clone box if your in tight areas. and put the bowl of water in the freezer, then put it in the room. maybe icepacks, you could put them behind the in fans. id stick to the 600w for that, or run the 1000w dimmed down to a 600w. i have heard of people having ballasts that can control the wattage really precisely if you wanna spend a couple extra bucks when you want to up the lumens. whats your box setup look like?

You mean for the growroom or the veg space? And good idea putting it behind the fan, makes sense. Only thing I'm worried about is the water drip and the electrical, but it should only get on my clothes (don't mind) probably try that. Yea, this project is actually so I save money and lower risk in the long run since fffffffffff copping lol. Probably will end up getting something that can control the wattage. Right now for the grow-room the space is really similar (except empty). 2Wx~4Lx~7H

either, im just making a cheap suggestion for cloning your girls for a perpetual grow. and put a rag under it then, it wont drip then. and i know what you mean, we're all budgeting so we can grow this shit. its a mutual problem among most of the RIU dwellers, always looking for a good shortcut. now that i think about it, thats why i started growing. i was tired of having to call unreliable people and pay top dollar for bud i could take the seeds from and grow much better than the original buds. or order some great genetics and blow some of your friends socks off. and damn its tall, make sure you got plenty of in and out fans, especially towards the top since hot air will build up.

Aye, I really, really did not want to cut wholes in the ceiling but I'm quickly coming to the realisation that with a 1000 watt HPS, even turned down to 600, it's going to be necessary. Once I get over that one personal problem I'll be good to go. As for the ice packs the temperature has been steady around 86 degrees so improvement has definitely been showing just not enough for me to re-add the 45 watt lights. Seeds still haven't shown up, someone said they got them from nirvana seeds in like 2 days but all the stuff I've ordered, even the stuff I ordered several days after contacting the seedbank, has already arrived save the HPS. Getting worried D:. I have no problem with unreliable people, it's just recently I went with to go cop and my friend asked to go to his spot to pick up weight (theoretically) and lucky-as-fuck he spotted the narcs in the dead of night. Had I left his place with just a bag I'd probably not of noticed them and could have gotten busted. Going to do some research on the A/C though, with an extension cord I can just run it from a more secure socket (well, secure in my opinion).

Some pics after a watering session. You can't really see the messed up one, but its starting to twist (as well as the styrofoam one) towards the light and looks like its stressful tbh. Wish I knew how to up the AMPs in my home so I didn't have to worry so much about electrical restrictions.

The 6th picture is the one that's hung over the edge and twisting.

if you check the gages when everything running you should be able to tell your power restrictions, the dial will be going crazy if its too high. and its good you got the temps down, id say put a 90 degree vent on the top so the hot air flowing up will just float out, maybe put a fan blowing into and you could lower those temps another 5-6 degrees hopefully. nothing would beat an a/c unit however. and might be heat stress, if it gets worse post again. and nirvanas pretty quick usually, id go to sannies next time though.

and ive been in those same situations, sketchy shit man. i try to lay low as much as possible.

The seeds finally came in :). Just in time. Popped four of them and another five bagseed. Probably just going to use this second crop to weed out a good 'rainy-day' mother.
Temps have been staying around 85 with the door open, so I kind of have to keep it that way. Good news is that humidity is around 27% and up. I do have like two A/Cs in the basement... Put a towel under them and hope there's no mold (some maintenance of course) probably could finally pop in that second set of lights :3.

sweet man, shits on the way. are the bagseeds doing alright?

They're doing 'alright' I did notice some growth but it definitely seemed to have slowed down. They're roughly 11 days old (the oldest) so I want to transplant but with the recent stress I think I'm going to hold off until the 14 or 15th and then after a week of rest switch them over to flowering if my HPS arrives. With the door open my shit is staying around 81 degrees, which I've read is optimal so I am getting happy but not noticing any growth. The cup that was the last to grow, and also held 2-3 seeds, has completely stopped. However I did notice today that there's this small pecker coming to life next to the one, apparently dead, leaf that stopped. I've been saturating that cup with water, though oddly enough I have had almost no accumulation of drained water for any of my plants for the whole time of growing... is that normal? Not enough watering, I put roughly 20-40% perlite with the miracle grow so...

On another note I've decided to install/use the A/C when the Ice seedlings (currently being germinated) are planted so that they can get the full treatment.

As for the bagseeds, having no experience I really can't gage their progress D:. After I transplant I'm likely to take another group shot.

if they're in optimal condition and growth is a bit slower, think of it as the plant focusing on root growth. thats usually what it is, some think its stunted all the time but if your giving em all they need they're gonna focus on growth above and below the soil. 81 is good, but for flower i shoot for anything below 80 really, your a/c should help out. and you should have runoff, poke a pencil in the bottom holes to make sure theres no water pockets. and if you dont have experience, look into low stress transplant. i just make a hole thats the size of the old pot in the dirt thats in the new pot, water her in a bit and she should be too shaken up. if you take pics, i might be able to spots some problems that can be avoided, and check the top and bottom holes of your soil, poke them with a pencil to check. darker soil means moisture, grainy light brown means shes thirsty.
