Here we go recuperation's are under way for the upcoming outdoor season. We're still about 3 months away from take off. I have acquired the following strains for this years outdoor guerrilla grow. For those who did not follow last years grow it was mildly successful. Harvested close to 6 ozs from four plants KC Brains Mind Bender. Last year several novice mistakes were made.

1. Plants started on June 1st.
2. Area light cover less than 5 hours a day.
3. Harvested three weeks early

Well these may seem to be small mistakes, I believe they had a huge effect on my harvest.

SOLUTIONS:

1. Starting mothers this year to clone from in early April. Starting more seedlings around the begining of May. From what I learned this year the last frost is early to mid May.

2. New grow area appx. 12 hours of full light or more a day.

3. Not harvesting until mid to late October.

I am aiming for a minimum of 2 oz's per plant. I think I should be able to outdue that easily this year as long as my plants don't get stumbled upon. I also have some help this year.

This years strains:

1. Reserva Privada- Kandy Kush (mother Plant)

2. Nirvana- White Widow

3. KC Brains- Mind Bender (my own breeding from last years selection)

4. Dina Fem- Critical +

Also got some Autos I got for free im gonna pop in a plot.Super Cali Haze and Onyx

How are you sitting as far as wind breaks, weather protection and pest control?

I'd hate to see another grower go through a loss like I took this last year.

Last years.

The area has a large amount of over growth surrounding it as a natural wind break. Weather isn't really a factor around here never get any really bad storms.

As for pest control, no big issues last year and growing in the same area.

I did have some slug problems last year, but a little copper takes care of that.

That's good. I'm just a little too far North I think to get some decent outdoor smoke.

I was bombarded with windstorm after windstorm last summer and it finally took my girl from me.

Sounds like you're going to have a good line up for the upcoming season.

Yeah closet growing the mothers and cloning. That will also be part of this thread. Gonna keep updating as I continue to setup for this years.

Posted last years if anyone wanted to check it out.

Also gonna pick up a decent camera this year. My roommate has an 8 MP camera that should work good for now. Didn't have many pictures last year, this year gonna document the shit outta this grow.

2 oz per should be easy to obtain. If your upstate as I am with that much sun going guerilla..no problem. I had one go 2lbs + once. I go in the ground mid to late may with plants about 10" tall (I start them in April in cups with flourescents). I find a spot that has nice dark native soil at least 36 inches deep. If not they will not get that big. I put 4 together in each spot. Mix in Manure, MG moisture control or whatever your brand. I like to put some dried blood meal in to combat nitrogen deficiency during veg. I will also sprinkle some fertilizer around the plants to feed them when it rains later in the grow. Seems to work pretty good. I plant my own strain, not even sure what it is anymore been crossing for years, but it grows big and smokes nice. A lot of purple and skunk, came together from crossing about 10 different types of quality bag seed. I think it is about 70 indica and 30 sativa. Works pretty good for a late Sept early Oct harvest. Biggest challenge is typically deer early. I don't like the idea of a fence or screen to obvious to a random bush wacker or reflection from above just in case big brother is looking??. I spray deer repellent like crazy on them until they get about 2 feet then the deer will leave them alone. Slugs can also be an issue early on. I now bury a cup filled with beer, seems to draw them away. Again once they get to be 2 feet they will grow faster than the slugs will eat them, so it is not much of an issue by say Mid June. they key to any harvest outside is to tie them back. Be careful not to snap any of the stems. I anchor in the ground and continue to pull them back (say once every ten days). This allows the bottom stems to get light and grow like crazy. Then I pull those back (careful they will split easy at the joint, tie the joint together before pulling the shoots back). By the time I am done I can have 15 to 20 colas on one plant. I can sex them (not necessary for clones) first week in August (the same every year for my Latitude). From there its just sun, good soil and nutes and be patient. I pretty much leave em be from Sept 10 until harvest and hope the weather doesn't create too much bud rot. The less you touch them the less the bud rot IMO. dry them, and cure them in jars. Works for me. I usually plant about 35. It drops down to about 15 ladies and about 5 die early for whatever reason. That usually will yield about 6 + pounds. I know there is so much more to it but you can be successful with a simple approach when outdoors.

Work on the spacing guy. I don't really like the beer idea. I have a bear that lives close to my grow area. He scared the living shti out of me one day.

Seriously I was cutting down a small tree near my area when I heard rustling coming down the hill towards me. I just crouched low to the ground and held my hatchet in both hands. lol

It just turned around and walked off. I only saw him the one time, but i see garbage and such in some of the woods all chew up. Pretty far from houses for it not to be a bear.

I had a major problem with little cock sucking squirrels. Digging my clones up last year. Fuckin A man. They dug them up and they dried out on the ground over night died.

Bears like Beer? Maybe.

The Beer works somewhat, I would love to find another solution. I hate coming out to skeletons when they are little.

You're right about the spacing...yikes. Tie em down you'll be psyched with the results.

Idea! What I did. Collect old pennies 1982 or older and spread them on the ground around the bottom of the plant. Or copper wire. The copper reacts with the salt and moistness of the slugs skin and burns it. Slugs hate copper.

check'd it out. As you mentioned you need more sunlight!!! Plants look good and healthy though. I use the northern side of swamps (southern exposure)...I'm in the sticks big time with a lot of options. Seems to work out on the yields, soft soil and tons of sun.

I live in a heavily forested area. The only open fields are being used for agriculture. Kinda sucks, but I manage to get by.

Shit i dont have no forested area but i would have to grow in my backyard if i wanted to go outdoors..I might try one monster plant out in the back this coming spring..

Same kind of situation here. It's either developed, agricultural, thick forest or marshy. That always discouraged me from outside. How do you figure your average daily sunlight for a site? Just visit the site at differnt times of day to observe the sun patterns? An old guy I used to work with used to visit his site twice. Once to plant, once to harvest! At least that's what he claimed! LOL
