thats what i'm hoping. that it takes over the whole block. it has already jumped underneath my concrete walkway. it's way better looking than a boring green lawn. it's my gift to the neighborhood![]()
Two kinds of bamboo., Clumping and running. If you plant running bamboo you can prepare yourself for a whole lot of maintenance. The clumping varieties are much easier to control. I have pulled off a freeway and dug up a few roots of giant bamboo on more than one occasion.. I have several nice clumps of diff varieties and it is quite a nice addition to the property.
Well so far its already gotten to 14F this winter and its suppose to get even colder.Many are hardy here in the NE. it never really gets that cold for long. The Atlantic ocean mitigates our weather to some extent.
Yeah it makes for great camouflage.[/QUOTE}
Neighbor of mine has a 1'4 acre of bottom where he has a barn. It's about forty steps below his main lot He planted a buttload of clumping Budda Belly and the tops of the bamgoo are even with the top of his house. I can't see his barn anymore. No shit the whole barn is just gone. It would be a great place to grow weed. I don't think he can get to it though
Bamboo plants can be uber easy to make a bunch of from 1 plant because 1 bamboo plant once topped if its a straight shot growth will produce 2 new shoots and 1 year you can have around 9 or more bamboo plants just from 1.Neighbor of mine has a 1'4 acre of bottom where he has a barn. hahaha. So far I've gotten 2 new shoots on my bamboo plats every 2 to 3 months after I top them. Soon I will be making peaces and such and selling them.My neighbor planted bamboo on the border of our property...It's now 30+ feet tall, and eats neighborhood cats, dogs, and children on a regular basis.....
lol.. ours was a gift from a neighbor as well.. i'm still trying to think of a way to repay him for their gift..![]()
Jap knotweed is a weed in every sense of the word . Believe it or not there is a variegated hybrid that is sold in nurseries. It is attractive though. With green and gold markings. There is a variegated hybrid of gout weed that has green and white markings that people buy. But it spreads uncontrollably. If someone found a way to hybridize kudzu and give it green and white variegation it would sell like hotcakes.I have knotweed...looks like bamboo...kills anything else trying to grow near it...no matter how many times you chop it down it just comes back more...winter kills it all off, but it grows all right back up quickly in the spring...its a little bit of an eyesore![]()
