Barney's Farm "Laughing Buddha" problem

:leaf:First time growing this strain. I have heard it is problematic and would like more info on growing this strain. My LB looks strange, not because it is sativa, but because the leaf fronds are all curled on the side edges. It seems like a fragile plant. Any info on successfull nutrient dosage, and watering cycles would be helpful, as well as soil, and pH issues. I am at a loss on this one, and am worried about messing it up.
Soil is Black Rose Organic Mix with Perl, Verm, Worm Castg.
Nutes are Botanicare Pro Grow/Bloom/LiqKarma.
Tap water (hard water) w/ chlorine volatilized out.
Light 250w HPS on 12/12.
Closet grow. :leaf:

if your leaves are curling on the edges then this is usually localised humidity stress caused by either your lights being too close causing the leaf surface temp to be too high or from a fan blowing directly at the leaves causing a lack of humidity on the leaf surface.

It is very dry here in southern arizona, so humidity may be an issue. She didnt like being directly in the path of the fan, got beat to s**t by the wind, so I moved her to the other side of the grow area where the current is quieter. I think you hit the nail on the head with your reply. Not enough humidity, or too much direct oir flow. Grow books dont really address growing in a dry environment. The temp is 68 - 75 dg F, and there is no light burn. So...think I will try redirecting the fan onto the light and off the plants.

if you suffer with low humidity you could try using the following (unsure of your grow size)

hanging damp towels in the room

water container with aquarium airstone and water heater with a fan blowing over the top

humidifier.

Ha ha or maybe an adjustable hot plate with a pot of water. Good idea. I'll think up sumpthin that'll work in there. Thanks J

hey marctser good luck with that buddha mate i grew that out and it was some awesome weed. expect lots of stretch but some giant colas. i had big long running colas as long as my arms. super tropical fruit smell with frost everywhere. ahhh the memories

:| We destroyed it! The goofey thing had both male and female flowers. We couldnt figure out what sex it was. It was that bad. Definatly a VERY confused plant. LOL! Other problems were light leaks, AZ heat, and probably my inexperience.
Currently, I have BF Amnesia Lemon Haze, which is awesome, and one of the most requested in my catalog, and BF Tangerine Dream. Both are doing very nicely. Like any sativa, they need plenty of room for thier roots, and more water than nutes. And a pair of scissors to top them off after they start flowering, to set the max height. I like to stay off the kelp/seaweed during the bloom cycle to help prevent stretching, then start adding it again during late flowering. Any sign of toxicity and I flush with water then dilute the nutes with water.

i have found kelp/seaweed has a negative effect on flavour and smell when used in flower. maybe give it a try of only using it in grow and see what you think you might be pleasantly surprised and save yourself a buck along the way

2easy for sure. I was adding the kelp only during grow, but then I read about Gravity, and decided to try adding kelp to the finishing formula and also in the plain watering phase. You might be right, tho. As we say int the laboratory 'don't get to clever'. LOL That generally means someone that finds a really thoughtful and cool solution...but it is completely wrong...but they dont know it cuz they are too busy thinking how cool they are. heh heh heh. Guess I'll go back to adding a molasses catalyst to my water and skip the kelp. Thanks.

Damn, I didn't know about the kelp during flower. I've already set up a compost mix with kelp in it, guess I need to put it out and wait for next veg cycle. Can anyone elaborate or share other experiences with kelp stinking plants up?

Why is my laughing Buddha looking ready at 9 weeks? Buds are tight and good size. Trichomes are cloudy. I did prune and bend this one in veg to keep it low about 2 ft now with lots of buds. I also pollinated two branches early in flower. Should I just have more patience ?

Kelp is great for helping out in heat. Balance is the key, some kelp is not going hurt in your tea. I top layer soil and happy frog dry fruit and flower, it has kelp in it and I have never had a bud taste like my first girlfriend.
