Hi

i'm wondering if anyone has any experience with Barney Farms Night Shade variety. Is it a good choice, relatively easy grow, etc, how long did you veg, etc.

cheers

dude just got my barney's night shade beans... kinda wondering the same thing. i've read 55-65 days for flowering, although the seed pack said 9-10 weeks, which would be 63-70 days. a friend of mine tried it when he was in amsterdam and was impressed. said it was in his top 5 for the whole trip. i'm just gonna start 'em and find out from experience...

Anyway, they are super purple and smell like grape popsicle and shit. They're covered in buds but they are still small buds, even the main colas are small, meaning they still have to fatten up

Ok check it.

My partner in our med grow grew 3 night shades, 2 in 3 gallon pots and 1 in a 7 gallon.

She got them as clones at a norcal collective

They were vegged for 7 weeks with 400 mh and sun (winter sun can rock out here)

They were flowered for 66 days.

The two 3 gallons gave 200g wet each

The 7 gallon was 260 wet

(pot size pot size pot size)

As you can see from the photos, these clones were all purple baby, but I'm not sure you will get all purp phenos from beans

NOW, with these clones, they all got heavy nute burn easily, so tread lightly with the food because the strain may be like that in general and not just these clones. Seriously, she burned the shit out of 'em. Then i said cut the nutes, but she said they looked thirsty and gave em 1/4 nutes a week later and fried 'em again.

She just cut them today and got 650+ wet and believe me although the buds aren't big, they are dense, every one, all up and down the branches to the main stem. I would have left them longer though because the frosty trichys are just that, frosty.

She smells like purple popsicles (the plant not the chica)

umm, so, also, not a lot of leaves on this baby, maybe the reason for the uniform density of buds.

i'm gonna wake and bake a nuggy saturday morn real time here on RIU.

Stop by if interested and I'll post updated dry weights.

Hey man, I am growing a nightshade female right now under CFLs so its not gonna be that big but i hope it looks like those lol. Anyway mine is really finicky too, she was a late germinated, had a weak stem, didnt branch out much, is always losing leaves because she is over/under watered very easily. Right now she is tweaky out about something but im not sure what. She has Little brown and red spots on the leaves that eventually turn it brown and yellow and kill it.

Looks like pH issues, I've had the same problem. What's your ph and nutes/soil?

Well i used a peice of litmus paper on the runoff water and i got 6 so i dont think the ph is bad.

i use tap water to water them and first was using a 20-20-20 nute called jacks classic for veg then i just started using miracle grow 15-30-15 bloom formula which i used at half the rec. ammount.

night shade is not purple.... will post pics, been at them for two prior harvests more on the way. very bulky buds smells like maui a little less pungent on all the fruity aromas of but sweet and stinky like it. the high creeps up on you and flattens you out, its a nice indica high.

I'm growing a nightshade (it's in veg stage for 5 weeks) and she's sensitive to fertilizer (compared to Euforia by DP), a normal dose of fully organic fert slowed her growth and burned 4 leaves, so I had to flush her. I chose this strain because it's exotic, but after reading about Barney's seedbank I don't know if it was a good idea.

I'm also very interested in pictures of this strain.

Peace : )

Not all phenotypes may be purple but it is normally purple bud. It gets its name from a purple flower.
