Basic parameters for the cultivation for DIY project

Also you may research a bug free media such as coco coir instead of soil. Whatever method or media you choose, it is all covered on here.
I have done soil, Aeroponic Low and high pressure, DWC and RDWC and now use coco coir/perlite for an almost fully automated grow. I only have to interact with weekly even though it is best to not do that frequently. :weed:

It's easy as long as you keep it simple.
Too much overcomplicated ideas for a newbie and you can end up changing a million things for no reason.

Give us a clue to what size tent
Which light you want to use in there so we can check it's correct..

I have a Grow Tent 120 X 240 X 200cms but it's a bit ambitious, so I was going to start with just two plants first (maybe in my dark room) Then I can move up to the tent!? Or do you suggest a smaller tent? I haven't got my light yet as I don't know what size light to get. I understand LED lights are better. I have seen a 2000 watt one....

But haven't ordered the light, soil or anything else yet.

Hello,
I am a student of mechatronics engineering and am creating an agricultural automation project. The basic structure is complete, but I need some information so I may code well. Here are some details:
===========================================
Material Required
===========================================
A small Land for cultivation
Seeds
ESP32
Connecting wires
Power source
Connecting ports
Breadboard
LED lights
Pump
Motor
Motor Controller
Tank
Laptop
==========================================
Steps
==========================================
Connect the hardware components in the form of circuits.
Connect the power source on the ground and power terminals
Connect motors to the pump and tank
Use Arduino IDE for coding the ESP32
=========================================
Confusion
=========================================
The question is, I don't know much about the parameters for watering the land.
I searched online, but I want to ask here the experts if I work for the automation of marijuana land, what must be the parameters? Moreover, I want to ask if there are other parameters to add to the code.
Suggest some points that must be added to the project because I know nothing about marijuana.
WHOOOooooaa, slow down brother. Stay calm and most importantly, Rule #1, Do Not Panic. Growing cannabis is not the hardest thing in the world. However, to be successful at it, it Must be done with Love, and Patience. And remember, the more opinions on how to Grow, doesn’t guarantee success either. It can complicate it and cause you to become frustrated. Rule #2, Do Not Overthink It. Yes, you do have somewhat of a time frame to Grow within and certain things must happen at specific times also. If you are interested to know more of my “knowledge” you can contact me here and we’ll go on from here. Cheers and Happy Grows My Friends.

I am a bit scared of failure all I have read/heard so far makes it sound like the hardest thing to grow on the planet. There's enough of it around so it can't be that hard, but when you're at that beginners stage (like me) they make it sound like something that's more likely to fail than succeed....

For instance, trying to buy soil has brought up (on the web) gnats eggs, mould, grubs, larvae, damp, I could go on.

I will continue regardless and hopefully it will be a lot easier than it sounds!!

Thanks
LB
Honestly it isn't that hard I think you will be ok keep it simple it also really helps if you have any prior experience with gardening with other plants some of that's transferable skills also cannabis is one hell of a tough plant despite what you might think it can and will suprise you that way

You can definitely start out with a small light and a couple plants in a portion of that large tent. You can also add more and/or bigger lights as you scale up and get more confident and skilled. A tent is usually easier to control the climate, and already has ports built in for venting and stuff like cords and ducting.

OK, so that's a popular size tent, I have a few.

There's nothing wrong with using part of a tent to start with as long as you can dial down your extractor to keep the environment at the correct temp, because obviously you will be using less wattage in lighting while it's not used to its full.

Newest Version Spider Farmer® SF2000Pro Samsung LM301H EVO LED Grow Light
£209.99 Original price was: £209.99.£189.99Current price is: £189.99.

Samsung LM301H EVO

●PPE: 2.7umol/J(Highest efficiency 3.14 μmol/j single diode)
●Wattage: 200W; Replace HPS500W
●Coverage: 3X3FT=90X90CM

This light wouldn't be great for a 120x240.

Note it's 200w , and for a 3x3, and honestly they are been very optimistic, it's underpowered.

They do a long version for a 60 x 120 , but again it's only 200w and you want a minimum of 240w per 1/4 of your 120x240 tent.

You don't want to be buying lights thst when you add more don't eventually fully light your space up or require you to be changing the whole set up.

Let me have a look at what's available that would fit your situation

There's one example.
I believe it has a solid rep, provides good coverage for each quarter of your tent .

Do a bit of research, check out migro on YouTube, he reviews lights and I'm pretty sure he had a lot of positive stuff to say about vipar spectra lights.

Also start your own thread.

You should start another thread. This thread should be used in response to the original poster OP. Sorry @James_Smith for hijacking your thread.
I agree but the op has left the building. This is a great recovery of a wasted thread but let's all do this. Support our new member and grower like you have been and when that new grower launches follow in a grow journal.
Also Welcome to RIU NewGirlLB

I don't know how to start a new thread. I am new to forums as well. Didn't mean to start an argument.

No argument and no worries. @Jimski is right the OP seems hasn't posted in more than a month so all good. Now back to your grow. That light is not ideal for your tent. The light you choose is very important especially when talking LED.

FYI - The green "Post Thread" button is in upper right hand corner when you are looking at new post.

Great site for learning and you are at the learning phase. We can be of great help for you but a lot of folks around here do expect a minimum of self study and knowledge so we can help you. If you look at the original post you will see what I mean.

Most new folks start with a tent and add what will be needed to make a good environment for cannabis. You will need a way to exchange and move air, regulate temp and humidity and lights.

Lots and lots of light.
First thing about lights. Well not about lights about the people who talk about lights. Everyone will have a favorite watts and ppfd and unimole/ time stuff and some folks can be very strenuous in making a point that is just different from some other guy. Use RIU to look for consensus among those helping you. I have watched folks follow a post off a cliff because a misconception of what media and how strong nutes should be.
GWE will have a lot of info on what we call limits and averages. Watts per gram watts per square foot watts per square meter. Ph is even funner. It is a lot to learn but you can reduce your mental and physical stress by choosing a grow method that is slower and has less measuring like natural soil.
If you have any intention of using your tap water and can not get a analysis from your water company get a full test. This costs me my first grow.

I do not claim to be an expert on any style of growing. I have only grown in climates such as midwest and southwest US but there are growers from all over here to answer your questions. I am 63 years old and have made hundreds of mistakes over the years. As with most things the devil is in the details and your details matter. So can you elaborate on some details, such as;
Where will this tent be? Inside climate controlled house or in an out building?
What is your budget? Obviously more $ means better equipment, but it can be done in stages.

I have a very small tent of 31 inch x 31 inch x 63 inch. My wife bought me the tent. Only 6.7 square feet. My tent came with a single 150 watt light that has a fan in the panel for circulation. Using the standard for lighting a well lit tent will use from 40-50 watts per square foot. This much light will be needed for a productive grow mostly in flower. I doubled the light bringing me up to 300 watts.
300 watts decided by 6.7 square feet gives me 45 watts per square feet well within the sweet spot for cannabis.
You have a 4x4 tent giving you 16 square feet. To properly light the tent 16 x 45 watts = 720 watts.
You have already stated intention to light only a portion of your tent. I agree with this as a stuffed with 4 plants for a new grower can be a task. Just figure out how much square foot you need say 1/2 the tent would be around 370 watts. Lights are made rounded to the hundreds and 50's so look for 350 watts or 400 watts. You can find weird numbers like 180 but they are rare.
Here is the lights I have. Cheap and work nice. 2 of them give a very even light as long as you have a tool to move the lights around and check the results.

Here is a tool to balance the pattern. It measures in lux and is very inexpensive.

https://www.amazon.com/UNI-T-Illuminance-Photography-Photometer-Measurement/dp/B098SXQB2T/ref=pd_aw_subss_hxwSS4_sspa_mw_detail_m_sccl_4/137-9129792-0751936?pd_rd_w=BonGF&content-id=amzn1.sym.816863e4-78db-4483-b7bb-8a3dfa8b7ecb&pf_rd_p=816863e4-78db-4483-b7bb-8a3dfa8b7ecb&pf_rd_r=Y6YRE3F0GWVF4D9QSTE5&pd_rd_wg=ihTXP&pd_rd_r=565d27d9-d55e-41c0-a103-14c0aeeb8dda&pd_rd_i=B098SXQB2T&psc=1&sp_csd=d2lkZ2V0TmFtZT1zcF9waG9uZV9kZXRhaWxfdGhlbWF0aWM=

The tool I listed integrates with an app to convert lux to ppfd which is a more complete energy number. It depends on choosing the correct spectrum in the app list. If the app listed is not close to your light the number will be off and you can have problems
The other thing about lights and settings is that they will not tell you how far from your plants to set the light or how strong to set your lights. Your plants are going to tell you. All of us can get you a recommendation for light setup but you will need to look at your plants and see changes in the leaves to tell you to much or not enough. Is the plant reaching for light and getting spindly with a tall stem? Needs more light. Is your leaf curling and the tip turning brown? Turn that light down!

If you are into learning new things and are organized cannabis can be a Kool hobby. If you follow grow journals here you will see the difference. Highly recommend doing so.
I view RIU as another tool to use. I get to not make a bunch of mistakes because people already did that. One of the strongest personality traits you can have here is a brutally honest assessment of what went wrong and use it as a learning experience and document it here for everyone to learn..
