Bastard Bubba Baby!

Hey guys this will be my first grow posted on RIU! I've spent most of my growing career assisting my husband, and I felt its finally time to branch out and tackle this project on my own.

I acquired 3 plants from a buddy of mine who had more plants than space. This grow is going to be focused on the "Bubba Gump," a bastard strain and 1 of 3 phenotypes identified thus-far. Im not sure if im gonna stick with Bubba Gump name yet, we'll have to see what she looks like during flower and how she smokes. I am excited to see what this pheno has to offer as the parent possibilities are Bubba x (Fruity Chronic Juice, Purple Dragon, White Rhino, OR Afghan Kush). We dont know who exactly the father is, hence the term "Bastard Bubba."

The plants in pretty bad shape; when we adopted her she was showing signs of heat and light stress, as well as being root-bound in a 1gal container. Last night i took the time to transplant her from straight FFOF into mix of COCO:FFOF:Perlite, at a ratio of 3:1:1 with mycos. I upgraded her from a 1 gal to a 2 gal, but only because all the 5 gal pots are currently being used in my husbands flower room for another 2 weeks.

Keeping her company will be 2 landrace Mexican sativas, easy to grow.

Hope you enjoy the grow! Questions and comments welcome!

This is the Bubba x ?, has been vegging since early DEC!! *facepalm*

These are the clones taken from the BubbaGump today and are being kept in a spare display closet with a 100w cfl... We wont have any room in the veg tent for another 2 weeks so they're just going to have to kickit in here! RH and temp are a guess as I don't have any extra thermometers but chances are that springtime in AZ isn't going to let these babies get too cold, i'll keep the dome closed to ensure high RH ;)

The Mexican neighbors.

Looking good I like sativas, and bastard plants lol. My wife helps me out a ton, I have to say I'll be very proud when she is ready and wants her own plants!

Lol it's gotta be hard to let go bc my husband was giving me a cloning tutorial today as if I've never taking one before!
I'm excited to reassure him that all of his teachings haven't gone unnoticed :) not to mention I'd like to grow some bitchin' buds! :bigjoint:

The last couple times I've taken clones she has been working with me. I don't have tons of room in my grow space, so I'll cut the clones off the mother and stick them in a cup of water. Then she trims them up and sticks them in the pellets. She gets bummed when any of the clones she helps with don't root, we were 100% this last batch though.

yah it's always disappointing when a clone doesn't take, I have about an 80% overall success rate :)
Were also limited on space! It's like once the grow is going you can't contain it! Were trying to find a bigger space haha

Hey guys just a quick update! The BubbaG has responded well to her pruning and although some of the light/heat stress damage was permanent most of it is bouncing back!
the clones are starting to yellow (roots baby yeah!)! The Mexicans were also topped yesterday while everyone was getting their azamax foliar treatment!

P.S. I'm also considering trying to mainline one of these clones. The only problem I see with that though is do to her mysterious genes I have no clue what her flowers look like. Apparently ill be the first to flower her out!

Thanks for checkin out the grow!!!

I say go for it on the mainlining, I don't see any way it could hurt anything or turn out bad. It may require a little extra time vegging but not a big deal!

PROGRESS REPORT!!!!
Hey guys our little Bastard Bubba and her two Mexican friends have spent about two weeks recovering from the heat and light stress they suffered through in their previous home and they looks great!! The BB seems to be branching out slowly but surely and that topping wound healed nicely! In about a week or so I'll toss her into flower!
Here she is Bastard Bubba Baby!

And after 9 days the clones are rooting it up, my scalpel slipped on one so I have a little root development above the cube OOPS  ! they'll be ready for transplant into their solo cups soon :)
on a side note tomorrow i'll be placing a warming pad under the dome to encourage faster root development and giving the girls a foliar feed bc they're so hungry!

Last but not least the Mexicans!
A sneak peak at the week 8 flowers! Just starting to fill out and begin resin production.

The two in the veg tent are doing awesome! However they're super prone to hermie in flower so I'll be using these plants for fun and experimentation
One has already been assigned to a Topsy Turvy grow! I'll also be posting updates and results here
https://www.rollitup.org/outdoor-growing/644342-topsy-turvy-grow-off-everyone.html
In order to get this girl through the tiny ass hole allotted I wrapped her with plastic food wrap to keep her branches from getting caught and Slightly Toasted was kind enough to lend a helping hand in feeding her though; there was one branch that was damaged but not broken so I guess we will be expecting a nice knuckle there :)

This is promising to be eventful! Thanks for stoppin' in and checking out my ladies!
This one's for everyone checkin' in :bigjoint:

Looking very nice. The bubba is gonna be a sweet plant, and the mexicans look real good to. I've never seen anyone do the topsy turvy so I'm gonna check out that thread, and am eager to see how it goes for you.

@Thurdercat That bubba is promising right?! LOL I'm hopin' for dense buds and a small leaf to calyx ratio! her internodal spacing is pretty far apart though :(
Just a little bit longer until we see what she has in store! That topsy grow thread is going to be interesting to see how/what people do!
Thanks for stoppin' by the grow guys!!
