bay area medical closet (GRANDADDY roots soil lumatek aircool 600w)

damn the pic thing is a lil tricky eh?
a doctor recommended marijuana to cure what ails me, and he was right on! manages my symptoms nicely with no unpleasant side effects. so i registered with the county health department and here's a look at my first grow-
i started with a dozen (one died in a fan accident lol) 4" grandaddy clones in rockwool cubes (for those outside cali "grandaddy" is a pure indica, very potent, purple kush-like strain). ten days in i topped at 5-8", now in the middle of day 13 they've thickened dramatically and the tallest is over 9". you can't see but they're sitting on wire racks an inch off the ground in their 3-gallon root pots, which is nice. they're all ranked and rotated daily.
the soil is roots organics (inoculated with mykos), and so is my grow nute and fulvic acid foliar. i supplement here and there with molasses, seltzer water, green tea, VF-11, and a wetting agent in various combinations when watering or misting...
whaddaya think? i'm thinking of flowering in another week when they're around a foot tall, anybody know how much grandaddy stretches during flowering? i think most indicas double, where sativas treble or more, but if someone has specific knowledge shoot it! i'm aiming for 2 footers or more at harvest, i want about two ounces each out of em. any pointers?

i flower a GD at 15inch and end up been 36" when i chop her. you probably need to flower asap. that little space is already packed...
glad you came along GP, i didnt seem to be inspiring much advice. maybe thats a good thing... did i mention its my first grow? :)
exactly the type of advice i was looking for too. so i hear you on space, i have 11 3-gallon pots in about 10 square feet and the plants are topped. surprising to me that a pure indica will triple in height during flowering, but i'm prepared to take your word for it. do you top yours? looks like i may be leaving the lights off sunday then going to 12... they ought to be 12"
side question- i water when the lights come on at dawn, but by midnight when the lights go out the soil feels/looks VERY dry. they take about 1.5 gallons a day tho and the pots are like 15lbs (feel wet). will i need to be watering twice a day in a month or will they hold their water better? also "flushing" (the act of running 9 gallons of plain water thru each 3 gallon pot) sounds ridiculous and impractical to me, what would i do, line em up in the bathtub and turn the shower on?!? is that really necessary? shit maybe i'd do it once halfway thru flowering. doesnt seem like something they'd like tho... please advise

no i didnt top mine and i still had problem because they get very wide during flowering. your watering too much, what kind of soil are you using? im also growing in 3 gallon pots and my plants are bigger and they only need water every 2-3 days.you dont need to flush your plants every time you water, only flush when you have to much nutes in your soil or when you switch to flowering, alot of people flush their plants before switching 12/12, i never do it. if your using tap water you need to let it sit in a bucket for atleast 24 hours.

i hope we just have very different setups (or i'm way off)... my 3g pots are the "smart pot" brand of air-pruning bucket, they are made of a felt-like material so the entire thing breathes (not just holes in the bottom). also these are sitting on wire racks off the ground. temp and humid are around 50%/77*f and the air turns over every three minutes as well as being moved constantly by an oscillating fan. the soil is "roots organics" (coco/perlite in there, nice drainage). i'm tellin ya, they drink a gallon and a half a day at ten inches. a lot must be evaporating. you know i mean 1.5g total, not per plant, right? i'd hate to think that much was evaporating, because the nutes would become too concentrated...
i think i need to top-dress the soil with something to keep the moisture in. maybe hydroton or coco coir. do you do that? and how much water would you say at this size each plant should get? 10" plants, 3g pots.
you've got me nervous about size too... their floorspace is 34"x40", and there's 11 (used to be 4 rows of 3). am i nuts? maybe ought to have about 6 in there? i'm gonna flip at 12"

oh i tough 1.5 gallon per plant :D.. my plant drint about the same, but my soil holds about 6 cups of water and i only have to water every 2-3 day, most of the water you use probably evaporates. i have no idea how much water for each plant, i always grow on half soil, half perlite. and about the size.. you have a reason to be nervous, your plants are growing fast, you will have problems for sure, you need to prune or make your grow area bigger and maybe add another light. if you flip at 12" you ill end with plants about 2ftx2ft IMHO you don't have enough space. but don't take my word for it, im only my 4th grow...
