Baywatcher's Basement Blowout

I was reading on another thread where the guy was using the solarstorms that they put out tons of heat, that seems like an issue. I like my vented hood on my 1k hps, and I think when I do get another light it will actually be a 1k MH to give my flower girls both ends of the spectrum. I flowered some clones under a 400w mh a couple years ago, and they turned out just and dense, tasty, and resin covered as their sisters under the 1k hps. I'd like to have 1k of each on a light mover over the garden.

Well, it's definitely *much* cooler than an HID, but it puts out enough heat to take my tent into the low 90s if completely sealed. I just leave the top zipper undone on my tent, it's at the perfect height for the vents on the Solarstorm. Temp inside is now between 69-72 F.

I've selected TGA Third Dimension for the next round. I think the Dr. Earth potting soil I used for the first batch of seeds is a little hot, so I'm going to start with rapid rooters instead for this batch. I've also started the process of adding grommets to all my Geopots to use as tie-down locations.

Thanks! There's a bit more leaf curl than I like, the RH is still too low for me (around 40%). I'm going to stick a humidifier in there this afternoon I think.

Allright, it has been a busy morning. I'm glad I got them out of the red cups, the roots had just hit the bottom and were starting to circle, and it was way wetter than I had realized. I put an inch of SS in the bottom of each 2 gallon and filled the rest with Dr. Earth. I also moved one of the Blackstars into the veg tent -- the Solarstorm puts out enough light for the space, but it's the wrong shape. At some point I may switch to a square tent for it. Unfortunately, the addition of the Blackstar shot the temps up in the semi-sealed tent into the low 80s, so I'm going to have to break down and do some ventilation work. Right now, I'm just leaving the front flaps open. I also put together a seed starting shelf with a couple of flouros.

Glad to hear it man, tent looks good all set up. I've been looking at buying a tent for some extra space. I currently don't have a great spot to keep moms.

It has been a week now and no germination on these :( I'm going to pry apart the rapid rooters and see what's up. This is the first time I've tried germinating in anything other than dirt, apparently I should stick with what I know...

Ok, of the five:

1 was germinated, the stalk is about to push up to daylight, I left it in place in the rapid rooter and stuck the whole thing in a red cup of dirt.
1 was just disintegrated mush.
2 seeds have cracked, and you can see a tiny dot of white about to start working its way out. I stuck these in red cups of dirt
1 was still whole and solid, and sunk in water, so I stuck it in dirt and will hope for the best

Next week I'll be dropping 5 Space Bomb. I'll go straight to dirt on those and see what happens.

Well, the germination on the Third Dimension is looking like 1 of 5. Very disappointing. I'll stick some Kaboom in dirt on Tuesday.

I couldn't figure out why my custom white balance that I so painstakingly dialed in was no longer looking right. Then I realized I set it with only the Solarstorm in the tent. Now that I've added the Blackstar, it has thrown it off again. I'll fix it soon.

Otherwise, things are looking up. I'm still getting a little nute burn on the tips from the Dr. Earth, but they seem to be settling in and have started a growth spurt.

I killed two of the Hash Passion plants today -- they were so severely nute burned that they were never going to be a good plant. The remaining five HP were topped in preparation for mainlining. I'm not certain that all of them will ultimately survive, we'll see.

The LSD, on the other hand, while not quite ready to top yet, are handling the hot soil with only a tiny bit of problem. They're going to be some nice, stocky bushes I think.

I also popped 5 TGA Space Bomb regular seeds into red cups today. The seeds were small, and somewhat pale. Hopefully I get better results with them than with the Third Dimension (1 of 5 germed).

Yeah I agree with TC... check my journal and you will see... those Southern Charms all came out really really nice :)
