Probably possible but I'm OCD and check on them frequently removing the lid. I will try without sometime.

It was just something i noted which might have been relevant maybe not. True though that sometimes we can culture the wrong stuff in less time than germination

Ive seen seeds sprout after a month of waiting

I actually routinely, squeeze the seeds till they just crack a little between my thumb and pointer finger after a 24 hour soak. Then into the paper towel they go.

I think MSNL is the problem, I just had a terrible experience with their seeds too. 50% Germination rate on their Durban Poison, and not 1 of the free seeds (G13) germinated. The seeds were mostly white and immature looking. Buy elsewhere next time.

ya it was the seeds. i bought more from another place and they sprouted in 1 day using same method. however MSNL did resend the order right away and they resent an extra bag of g13 and then 2 weekks later i got the whole order in the mail again. this time i germinated 5 white widow from MSNL and they all sprouted. I hope all the rest of them are good . I think the first order was exposed to something that made the seeds no good. i dont know im just guessing. they did resend the order 2 times by mistake im sitting on 600.00 worth of seeds

I agree with Jim. This is a good way to deal with thick seed hulls.

If the shell hasn't cracked in a day or two but feels solid, IE I can't easily crush it with my fingers, I take a very small set of curved needle nose pliers and grip the seed right on the long-side seams. A very light squeeze and you feel the seam 'pop'. If you do it right it won't look any different, but you should see the taproot poking out in the next day.
