Beat the heat!

bongsmilie What's up friends, I'm currently growing in a tent which is located in a detached garage. Temps have been getting extremely hot due to the summer months, obviously. I'm running a 600watt mh in a 4x4x6.5 grow room. I have an air cooled reflecter with carbon filter and booster fan blowing out hot air from reflector. Any tips or advice how to cool this room down. I've tried running ballast at 50% but doesn't do much in this heat. I've read a couple people talking about putting a small AC unit in tent? Or cool midst humidifiers ? Help me out guys !! :wall::wall::wall:. I imagine it's a common problem no??

Some people do buckets of ice, air conditioners etc. I run lights at night and do it in the basement which is always significantly cooler even with this brutal heat we have been having. What's your ambient temp of your room your pulling into the tent?

One thing the that helps plants and any other living thing is air circulation. I'm not talking about a hurricane force of wind, but an occilating fan during all light hours will help them limp along.

A last resort that can help some is to use ice like passdadutch said. I use frozen water bottles to cool down an eZclone - works great for that. Not sure how much it would help your grow out...

Your saying tent of garage right? Honestly not sure definitely has to be in the 80s with the heat outside.

Yea ur garage temp not inside your tent. U should be pulling the air in your garage in so if you cool the garage you'll cool the overall temp.nwhat size are your fans, tubes, any bends in tubing? Are you vent back into the room or through a hole and out your garage? If your garage is mid 80's then inside your tent is even hotter. Cool the garage so the air your pulling is cooler than your tent. Try to get into low 70's maybe 60's if you really need to cool off tent.

I have to small fans set up one on bottom left other top right to help circulate air. I have a carbon filter with ducting running to air cooled reflector then booster fan and duct blowing air outside of tent with idea of helping elimate odor and blow hot air from bulb directly out. Booster fan is 6".. I don't have any air flow coming into tent cause garage air is just to hot.. Should I be doing that? It is atleast a few degrees less than tent I'm sure even on hottest days.

Yea you should be pulling some kind of new fresh air into your tent even if you just leave your hole open that's built into the bottom and your exhaust fan just pulls out the heat and stale air out top. That's y there's the hole built into the bottom of tents. You need to be replacing stale air not just circulating it and taking stale air out and leaving the same stale air in garage. You need to vent stale air out your garage, and be pulling some fresh cooler air from your garage into your tent. You'll plants will def thrive with the temp change and change of air

Sounds like to me for summer you should window a/c garage or buy a portable a/c and take your one tube and put in your bottom hole to pump the cooler air in and the exhaust tube on a/c vent to outside as this air will be hot. Something to think about for future.

Awesome picture, yeah I def leave certain vents open for air circulation just not a fan or anything getting steady strong air into tent. Seems like the inline fan on top will help also but then have to worry about odor escaping once their flowering correct?

Put ur filter on the one that's connected to the top and pulls the most. If your running straight across through to ur light and back out like the photo then no need to filter that, it pretty much take the heat from lamp. Ur top fan will be a lot more powerful and will be pulling most of ur air so I would filter through that. I'm sure other people will chime in, everyone's tent setup is different. Google grow tent fan set up etc. watch some videos, figure out your sq ft and how much cfm you need and go from there.

That's the set up basically, fan on bottom left and top right circulating air also. Ducting seems like it does have a little distance to travel I think but the light will come up as plants grow. Carbon filter to air cooled reflector to booster fan and duct outside top of tent.

Just sent some pics you may be looking at, this set up I actually saw but your right, duh since I'm only worried about the heat coming from light I can just connect filter to inline fan pushing out heat, def has to help some.

Ok with that I would take tubing off the front of light and take filter and tubing and connect it to a exhaust fan up top with filter connected about level with the plants

Ok your saying I'd want carbon filter as close to plants to do its job best? And with light I'd just put another piece of tubing out of tent opposite of booster fan blowing air out. Seems like it's a more efficient way regardless of heat issues def gonna try

No does not have to be next to plants at all like I said everyone sets theirs up different. I wouldn't even put tubing on the front of the light I'd just leave it bare and just pull the air out the side. Like idk your tents, how many holes, sizes etc. like i said if you search you'll see different set ups and peoples tubing. Check them out

Ok awesome thanks for the help man

Take a look at this one got it off google. I would just take the tubing off front of light. It'll still be pulling air up through the hood and out the side, while ur big exhaust fan pulls and changes ur tent air out and scrub, filter w/e. That's assuming you don't have the 2 holes across from one another.

My tent is set up like that but an additional 2 holes up top .. So 6 total ..2 each side 2 in back all on top ..with a long rectangle vent on bottom each side then big zipper on side also to open up tent and I guess give it a lot of air.
