been reading alot about room size to watage of lights

:idea:hey everyone ,ive been reading alot about grow room mesurements on here ,im new to the site and think its a mint as sight.Ive been growing for a good 16 or so years indoor and aoutdoors so have a wee bit of exsperince with alsorts in basic horticulture.moveing back to room sizes ive allways made my basic area to the lights wattage eg.400wathps is a 100cm sq
600wathps is a 120cm sq
1000wathps is 160cm sq
I think im rite in saying that if you tri to keep thease mesurements, obviously with extra space for all the other equipment, but the main grow area you should get maximum weight for the light ,Ive currently been growing with 600hps and getiing bout 27 0z .ive just changed to a 400 just for a go and to see if i get a good yeald and i like the low temp it runs at so will post sum photoes later .

Yes, you are.

160cm sq is the equivalent of 20"x20", or less than 2x2. You can always cram as much light as you want to as small an area as you desire but no.

A 1000w is good for 900cm sq, or about 48"x48". Anything beyond that depends greatly on the reflector as you need to keep the bulbs at a further distance to cover more area.

400w 2x2 at 8 inches to 10 inches
600w 3x3 at 12 inches to 14 inches
1000w 4x4 at 16 inches to 18 inches

The height of the bulb and the angle of reflection determine the edge of the canopy. To put a 20"x20" canopy down you'd keep the bulb something like 3" to 4" away. Maybe on a light mover homie, but you'd cook your plants at that distance if you left it there for any extended period of time.
