Ouray looks like Switzerland to me with the way the mountains are. Wouldn't want to spend a winter there though. Durango seemed to be a little water starved to me.

It was beautiful when I was there but I had just finished spending a week in Farmington NM so anyplace would have seemed like paradise. I had to spend a week in Farmington twice. I never want to go back.

And I love the rain. I don't suffer from any gloomy day syndrome. What I don't love is the drought and rising temperatures. Last summer's 116°F record breaking temperature and all the other record breaking days was a little much for me.




Yeah it's nice down there but the Portland area is where it's at. When I say Portland area I don't just mean Portland but all the surrounding suburbs like Beaverton, Tigard, Tualatin, etc... The rest of the state is lightly populated by a bunch of yokels though. And most of the small towns are overrun with meth users.

Tourists and retirees. Not bad little towns. Lincoln City has a Casino. Newport has numerous charter fishing outfits, the Oregon Coast Aquarium, and a Ripley's Believe it or Not.

Both have the same problems with meth as many of the coastal cities and there is a significant amount of property crime. Most of the drugs are from the longtime locals but it's not as bad as some coastal towns like Coos Bay that went to crap decades ago when much of the timber jobs went away.

and no rentals. I saw a cute house for sale on zillow posted 2 days ago and already had 4,500 views. lol. This is Newport. The hospital there reached out to me for a job so I was looking around the area. One rental available , how the fuck do they expect anyone to work at a place where there is no where to live?? There was a really nice new apartment community built last year and when i inquired they said no availability because eveyone who moved in signed 12 month to 18 month lease and no one is leaving. They are starting a new 87 units build this summer but not finished until 2023. I am sure there will be a long ass waiting list for that one. They would never be able to match the money i make in Cali anyway.
