BEETS!! buh dum tss

Aight So My father is trying to grow beets and carrots but every time he sprouts beets indoor he takes them outside then they get extremely long. Sometimes cant even hold up their cotyledons.

What is the dealio ??

I told him to replant them deeper. "hen he replies with, "You can't transplant beets, I read they will die or can't handle it"

I was thinking it wouldn't matter because they are so young.

Also would it hurt anything if some of the stem was planted because of re plnting them deeper?

does he plant them as low as he can when they are sprouts? i transplant carrot sprouts when they are a couple days old and bury the root all the way up to the first leaves.

So you replant all the way up to the leaves and they do just fine?

Direct sow in soil. If it's not recommended, why do it?

It is not recommended that you inhale burnt plant material into your lungs, why are you doing it? LoL not trying to be a smart ass but get my point?

we direct sow here on the farm. carrots we sow then after bout 6-8 days we flame the soil to kill any bitchass weeds that sprouted then a few days later carrots are up. why is it so important for you to transplant them????

i find it easier to transplant them than direct sow because i normally get big clumps of seedlings together that are some what spread out so i have to thin them and i find it a pain in the ass.
