I'm a first time grower and I've been doing a lot of researching for the past 3 days and i was wondering what you guys think of this system

it's 164.95 for a 400w HPS light that gives out 50,000 lumens, or more depending which bulb you pick.

http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/customkititems.asp?kc=HLHPS04SE&eq=

and 169.95 for a growing system that comes with "everything you need to grow 6 medium to large-sized plants, including a seed-starting tray & dome, pump, timer, pH kit, nutrients, reservoir, growing medium, etc"

http://www.bghydro.com/BGH/Itemdesc.asp?ic=HGS6&eq=&Tp=

so a total of 'Total: $334.90', which isn't too bad I'm guessing because i saw another post with a guy and a budget of only $500, with the rest of the money I'm sure buy some extra stuff. i have no idea what shipping would be though.

a detailed response on what its missing and what its worth would be greatly appreciated

I'm no expert, but it looks as though you're pretty much set there. Would you be looking at using soil or the growing medium supplied?

You might just want to check its suitability though you'll probably be fine.

All in though, you've got your light, got your seed tray, got your nutrients and got your pH meter... now you just need some seeds or cuttings I guess

Hi exodus...

You should consider growing in soil first. If you get a hydro set up, you will also need a PPM meter. All growers need a PH tester.. and you can get those for very cheap.. 5-10 dollars..

The light is GOOD.. know in advance that a 400watt hps will give off a lot of heat... so if you are growing in an enclosed area.. you will need GOOD ventilation...

I agree with garden knowm, If you are just starting soil is much more forgiving then any other system. Any other system one plant goes and the rest of your crop follows because they all run off the same food and water. Soil one plant goes you save the rest.
