Beginnings of Root Rot? Please Help DWC

This could be it. Like i said earlier i'm having to use a good bit more ph down than usual. Also looking at the roots today its a weird sight; part of the root structure is floating at the surface while the rest sits at the bottom of the bucket... freaking me out as it just looks as though they are dying wtf? Beaver the roots are not white they are a stained orangy brown colour. Theres no slime that i can feel everything feels wet but not slimey. One question though, if this was the beginnings of rot, how long would it take to destroy the crop? I'm in 3rd week of flowering on a 8 week cycle, so i'm hoping that i can just get through the next 4/5 weeks. I have been noticing yellowing dying leaves, but only underneath the scrog screen. Never done scrog before so don't know if its maybe just lack of light thats causing this. I would use h2o2 (not sure i could bring myself to using bleach though lol) but if i add h2o2 i'v read that i cant stop using it is this correct? and why? Plants are overall healthy and nice white hairs on the flowers nothing seems to be dying up top so I'm holding onto that. I done the pull test on a little bit of the roots, and its breaking with a gentle tug but i wont be making a habbit of testing that. If those roots are dead am I better cutting them away and allowing for new roots? or will this kill growth this far in the game. Thanks guys

Here's a few pics taking today. Seems like theres defo something on the roots, but again after trolling the forums i'm reading that pirahna and tarantula do this. Any input would be very much appreciated. I'll also post a few pics of the grow just for fun

I'm also using Voodoo and Pirhana. The Voodoo in my experience looks rusty brown or reddish brown when it is colonizing my buckets. I was also freaked wondering if I was seeing a friend or foe because Advanced site does not offer any info about this. I think you are OK and rusty root color is actually from your beneficials. Root rot has slimy appearance in addition to the telltale smell so try to relax and not worry.

Thanks Tony, I will certainly try relax, although i know i'm going to be up there checking every few hours or so lol. Can't help it i'm constantly paranoid that its all going pear shaped :! lol. Thanks again!

Yeah I agree. That with the pH spike might mean the onset. Keep an eye and be ready to flush.

Hey brewer, I thought that too, though i had a gentle feel ans its not slime its feels like wet tarantula powder so fingers crossed, managed to flush with a h2o2 solution to err on the safe side but now i'm wondering, once i'v drained h2o2 and flushed with plain water a few times can i go back to using my organics? the h2o2 did kill the smell and the p.h is alot more stable only needing to adjust daily now, but i do'nt want to keep using it as i know it can damage roots even more. Will it be ok to return to my advanced nutrient benificials now that i'v drained the h2o2 and flushed a few times?

H202 isnt going to hurt your root, your going to run into the same issue going back to organics in dwc.
Yes it can be mastered but its a bit harder to dail in.

I'll bare that in mind hellraizer, but are you telling me that £100 bucks worth of benificials would cause more problems and instead to use h2o2 which you could pick up for peanuts? lol!If this is the onset of something nasty, how long would it take to take over and kill the crop? days??

But the root of this issue isnt organic or inorganic its water temp. Keeping temp under 70f will keep pythium
At bay. If you go or stay with organic/bennys you have to provide a inviroment that it can live in, if your out
Side the the right inviroment the the good bennys will die and the bad will take over like the plague. Having a
Right inviroment consist of stable water temp, some say a bag of perlight in the res provides a home for them,
And like all organic positive or negative needs food. This is what I understand it to work using organic benny.
So to simplify it I go inorganic and sterile res.

Res temps have always been fine I use a submerged thermometer and its never been above 69, i throw in ice bottles into the controller bucket when the temps reach 69. I have heard about creating a home for the bacteria and fungi to colonize but the thing i've overlooked is food for the beneficials. Would this be carboload i'm guessing? Now knowing that i haven't been supplying the food for them, i'm thinking this could be why the roots are covered in the bacteria? Anyways I never got your post untill after i had added back my organics. You say it could take days, well I've seen my roots like this for the past 3 weeks now, and the smell is almost completely away now, so i'm hoping its just been my additives causing this. Plants are healthy and nice white hairy buds. Do you still reccomend just using the h2o2. The last time i used it there i was paranoid it would burn my roots? is this not possible and how long can i leave h2o2 in the solution with roots submerged? Thanks in advance.

According to author J.C. Stitch and Ed Rosenthal, in the Marijuana Garden Saver which has my recommendation as a "must have" for the gardener...
H2O2 is used to control Algae, gray mold, Pythium, and powdery mildew. HP can be used daily with no adverse effects... Treatment with 3% store grade is 1 US quart in 3 US quarts of water. With horticultural 10% they recommend 10 ounces per Gallon. With ZeroTol 27% they recommend 5 tablespoons per gallon.
Also, I spoke with Advanced Nutrients technical support. That's when I had a root rot problem and they said to use a peroxide solution for approx 12 hours, then run ph'd reverse osmosis water for 12 hours before adding beneficials thus allowing the peroxide residue to break down.

Carboload is a form of food it can eat, as for h202 dont use ot if your going with bennys

AN microbe products piranha and tarantula are known to cause issues in a DWC. They shouldn't, but they consistently do. Even if they worked exactly as they should, they are still ridiculously over priced. I recommend Great White, Mycogrow soluble, or an Aquashield + ZHO combo.

If you are growing with organics, you are already feeding the microbes. Organics are difficult and involved in a DWC, with one issue being PH swings. Your going to have to get your microbe population in balance with your nute schedule.

Hey guys, well almost a week has past and the smell hasn't come back, so I think things are starting to get better. A few days after my last post, i saw explosive root growth, new roots growing through are bright white and probably the healthiest roots i've seen. My question is this. If this was a rot problem, would the new roots not be getting attcked by now? I mean A week has past and they are still beautifully white, I'm guessing that anything growing would have started attacking the new roots by now??
