Bend stalk? of cut 12" down to 7"?

I'm doing a 2x2 screen grow. I was planning to top plants to cause more branching at screen level but one is 12" tall, other are about 7".

Should I cut top of 12" to even the height with others (which I would pinch also), and use the top cutting as clone? Is it hard to get such a cutting rooted?

Or

Should I gently bend the stalk/trunk 90 degrees at the same height as the 7" and let it grow horizontal under screen?

Is there a height requirement for vegging below screen?
Do plant need to be a certain height, ever?

Is it better to grow the main stalk/trunk horizontal under screen or to pinch top to cause more branching?

I vote for bend the stalk. I would bend it at a 90 degree angle on top of the screen. When I scrog I grow mine on top of the screen and tie them down with zip ties where I want them to grow. Photo attached.

Little Tommy, is that because more light gets to branches? Have you seen a difference between using the over compared to the under the screen methods? If you have, I'll take your word for it because it makes sense, to a point.

Usually when u scrog, do you pinch/top to get more main stalks/colas?

Or do you bend?

Thanks man, I'm at the point where i need to decide today what to do.

I ended up bending and I think I will bend instead of shocking the plant by cutting, but I will also top a vegging plant a few times before i put her into flower to see how that works. While the plant is in the veg area maturing, who cares if I stunt shock her a little, right? I'm not going to go crazy, but I will try pinching the new main growth at screen height. That way I will have an octopus of branches at the perfect height to go under the screen.

the only one of my plants that got topped in veg. now has 5 colas it grew into the light and got burnt so i cut it i wish i cut them all(its the one in my signature) . but after you are ready for flower it will really slow down growth . all the energy goes to making new stems and leaves . at flower time we want all that energy concentrated on fattening buds, right?

yeah
you don't cut your plant in flower.... and try not to bend or LST them.... cause its still stress and can turn them Hermie

Bending being better then cutting it off!

I agree. i will never chop a main part during flowering cycle. If I top 3 times in the 8-10 weeks while others flower, I believe i will have the right size plant for my screen with 8 main branches. When I put her under the screen I will ahve to bend each of the 8 branches and hopefully cause a fat growth spurt.
