Best Grow Container Size, Wardrobe Grow

Hi everyone. Okay I have my first stealth grow. :-P It is going to be a wardrobe cabinet. The shelf size is going to be 46.5" x 18". The grow height will be about 38" from shelf to lights. With the plants in the pots, I figure the plants can get about 30" tall--maybe a bit more. I will be using two (2) 125-200 watt cfl fixtures. Heat is a big issue. I am pretty sure this needs to be a SOG grow. I do not want thed hassle of SGROG. My question is what pot size will give the best yield? I would like to do a fem Super Lemon Haze, but I am very open to suggestions since this is an important issue. I like a head high, so really not looking for 100% indica, more like a Sativia/Indica mix. Anyway, I have attached a drawing showing 6", 7", and 9" pots. What do you guys (and girls) think will get me the best smoke & yield? :dunce:

ok well first off, Super Lemon Haze is predominately a sativa. This means it will grow super tall and skinny. Since you're doin a cabinet grow, I would recommend you choose a strain that is mostly indica--at the very least 50/50. I recommend doin AK47 or something along those lines. Greenhouse has pretty good seeds from what I've heard, but I would stick with some name brand company because they got their genetics right. Anyways...

If you do decide to stick with the Super Lemon Haze, make sure you leave enough room in your cabinet for the flowering stage. Your girl will at least DOUBLE in size during that stage. Because it's 100% sativa, if I were you, I would only let it veg till the plant is mature enough to flower. Once it's old enough (about a foot probably) go ahead and switch it to 12/12.

Now if you're plannin on cloning these plants, I would switch the light to 12/12 ASAP for the cuttings and just do the SOG method you mentioned above.

Hope this helps,

SC

Just due to height restrictions, I'd go with the 6"......if the vent fans are mounted outside the cabinet, you can get two more, of each size in there......... Whatever size pot and # of plants you choose......I'd advise getting enough growth to fill the space and pruning the excess to prevent crowding. With the 6", that's likely to be single cola...with the 9" maybe 2 tops per plant, with the 7"..maybe alternate 1 and 2 top plants.......... All of mine are in 4" rockwool set inside 6" pots for spacing, so I'm making the assumption that 6" soil will be enough root space for you as well......but I can't swear to it.

If you go with a Sativa....you will likely want to go 12/12 right out the gate. If you go with an Indica, you can veg to 8-12" or between 1/3-1/2 of the space from top of pot to the lights(start at 8" and adjust next go round)....an earlier harvest can give more of a head type high.....but I think different than the sativa head high. I can harvest at 6 weeks, but it's a very "Skitzo" buzz for me and I'm not that fond of it...I smoke to beat insomnia and that vibe just doesn't let me sleep....but some folks like it as they stay active and feel very "peppy"....

If you don't get suggestions here, you can go through some different strain/grow posts to find someone with similar conditions and stains you'd be intersted in trying. I have 3 1/2 feet from top of cube to bottom of light, but the HIDs need about a foot gap to not burn the tops, so when my batches go in to the bloom area, they are in that 8-12" range and finish right on the fringe of the burn zone......I can't honestly tell you my strain as it's from a clone my buddy gave me.

Best of luck..................

Thanks for all the help guys. I think I will go sativia and indica. Some daytime and nighttime smoke. The AK47 sounds good. I think I will also try the 6" and 9" 2 gal pots to start with as an experiment, and not totally jam my growing space full. This might be a bit of a hassle since I will need to adjust the height of the pots rather then the lights. Also, differing flower times. But then I can find what works best and take my clones. Anyone have issues with cloning fem plants?
