Best LED COB light w/o building HELP!!!

Maybe go look up what I was talking about before flat out saying the light can't replace a 400 hps. Check out grow journals on YouTube and such. Many people are making thd switch. This thing is highly efficient.
Sure, might not match a 400 hps perfectly, but if i can get a similar yield with less than half the watts then I'm a happy camper.

It's more of a 250w hps replacement, and i have seen grow journals on spectrum kings and they aren't very impressive.

I agree with this. it won't compare to a 400w hid. Nothing at 140w will, period.

Not sure why so many people are hyped on them, I guess it could just be a few people that are really loud lol. They have some decent units, but holy fuck are they overpriced. And the misinformation on their site is really bad. They really try to claim that 140w light can cover a 4x4...... They are just capitalizing off of ignorance.

They claim it can cover 4x4 for veg not flowering. They recommend at least an SK400 for flowering a 4x4.

That 400w led beats the pants off of a 400w hps

Spectrum King makes up false claims to sell products to unsuspecting novice growers. If you want a quality 400w LED here's one i'd recommend.

If you notice that one actually provides the information that growers would need like PPFD, PAR watts, ACTUAL coverage area...etc....

Thank you. I was about to say, i didn't see 4x4 flower written anywhere haha.
And for a 2x2 tent, i have all the light i'll ever use.

Ive got a few spectrum king 400 plus and they work allright, i use 3 of them in a 8x4 tent and get some allright weight. I use them pretty well watt for watt as i would hps but dont need much for a/c only in the summer when its super hot, and no a/c the rest of the year. I like them but it takes more then 2 to equal a 1000w

For less than half the watts, i'll take my spectrum king any day over that expensive light running on 400watts. I understand it puts off more light, and has been properly tested in a variety of fields, but this is half the watts and half the cost. And it's an amazing product.
What spectrums videos were you not a fan of?

Ah you are right. They claim it will cover a 3x3 in flower. Still, that's gonna be underwhelming by itself, and a 315cmh or 400 hid will crush it.

And I agree their 450w model would destroy a 400w hid, but that's not what they claim on their site. They say the 140w will replace a 400w hid and they say the 400 model will replace a 1000w hid. Both blatant lies to trick people who don't know any better.

theres many ways too skin a cat. some people cant grow well with new 1000w lights and some people can pull over 2 pounds. just like all lights if you sux at growing LED lights will not save the day. but if your a great grower, you can probable find cost saving with them in my opinion

The videos that the spectrum king maker put out were really bad, they are somewhere on these forums, i am pretty sure he got laughed off here. He tried to say COB's are bad technology or some crazy shit like that, i think he's got a screw or two loose.

If you are buying from him you really don't know what you are doing.

Read that for a great laugh, and to listen to wild spectrum king claims like 95% efficient LEDs and "medical grade" drivers :dunce::dunce::dunce:

Yeah - you're best off looking up vids for ANY light and not following marketing claims. It's a marketer's job to try and stretch the truth to make their product look good!

If you're not on a tight budget though, they make a great piece of kit that works for the full cycle without the heat of HID.

Heat comes from how much wattage is used, not what type of light. 1000w of any light source produces the same amount of heat as 1000w of another, 1 watt produces 3.41 BTU.

Not trying to be rude but you are putting a lot of misinformation out there.

Well - I know I used to run a 400w HPS with a sealed/vented reflector and still had problems keeping the tent cool. Now I just run one exhaust fan from the whole tent and it stays at like 73-75 degrees. Idk the thermal math, I just know how it works in practice ✌

Read this thread for a more through understanding

The only thing that matters when it comes to heat is how many watts are used.

I use LEDs, HPS, CMH.

The main reason you think it's hotter is because HPS has a ton of IR light(leds have none), but the heat load is still the same if you used the same watts of another source.

I thought the difference was more about the amount of light versus heat the 1 watt can produce,
like a regular 100 watt bulb produces less then 5 watts of light but 95 watts of heat while burning 100 w
I dont fully understand it but i think different bulbs have different efficiencys

I find its easier to keep my 8x4 tent tent cool with the 3 SK 400 then with 2 600 hps.
maybe the heat gets distributed different out the top of the light verse toward the plant.

Isn't it less hot with the LED because more energy is used as light and not dispersed as heat? I think the word we're looking for is efficiency? More efficient = less heat?

Thats the way I look at it too, but im no professional. 100w heat lamp vrs 100w grow light both will burn 100w but one will produce little light and all heat and the other one all light with little heat.
