The obvious. Different strains, different phenos, different harvest times, can't rotate/move, waste of nutes, gnat heaven, flood potential etc. Drain to waste is grossly negligent imho. Reservoir is hard to maintain and keep from turning bad for most growers.

Hydro imho is for huge grows of like crops. To me new growers think hydro is going to be faster and bigger. Not the case most times. Especially with newbies. I got over 50 years growing weed. All methods. Promix or like media in pots the only way to go. Easy and forgiving.

Okej first part is same for dirt.... and anybody that did sog will tell you they use clones. Has nothing to do with hydro.

Second i have been growing more than 5 years in hydro and its most definetly faster than soil. Allsoo it has been proven with sientific studies that plants feel soo good in hydro that they produce more flowers

Current grow winding down. 9 pots of 3 gallons. All seed plants. Be over 2lbs easy. Averaged less than 500 watts during flower. Flowering started at 250 watts and ended at 600 watts. Super easy grow. About half hour every 3rd day work. Hydro not for me.

Pros of hydro (in my situation anyway):

Pop the seedling in a rockwool cube and done.
No soil mixing
No transplanting
Instant nutrient adjustments
cleaner
Very little pest infestation
Easy disposal of used media
Faster growth

I live in a small apartment in a major city and dont want to be hauling 50 pound bags of soil around town. Soil biology is a hobby in itself. I currently dont have the time or will to go down that rabbit hole to educate myself ( i know my personality and definitely would). Honestly I see more people on here struggling with soil grows than anything else. This notion that its the easiest way to grow is way overblown in my opinion. I think the only downside to hydro is the ability to raise or lower odd sized plants and that is a pretty rare occurrence. Not meaning to poo poo anyone's style of growing but for me hydro is the preferred method by far.

Yea the flood hazard with dtw is real. I hate that. But keeping a reservoir ph’d and pool shocked every 3 days is all I do and its always in check. No need for auto ph meter it never drifts out range overnight.

Maybe if wanted be gone for 3 days but Id hate to leave it at all and tend to not. Im a home body. ebb and flow or flood n drain sounds nice for flood hazards.

Soil was just not happenin. People tell me I water too much but when I dried back the leaves all died. I tried just tap and top dress. The frequent watering kept alive and the recharge fed it till the end what ever it could.

I see people where the ganja gods just dont grant access to a method they did everything right and cant get past seedling. Its weird phenomina. Soil was like that for me.

I get way better growth in dtw coco. I didnt try using bigger soil pots but its just a pain. Id try it again some day along with other things Im just in save/pay off grow mode.

I went and got a HLG 200. Now my next problem is how to SOG 6 plants in a 2x2 1/2
I hear it can be done. They are going on there 4th week 2 of them there 3rd week.

Not sure how to start trimming what to cut and what not 2

Sp6500 May be more fit. I run one in a 3x5 (32”x60” actual size) was the closest I could get. Vivosun was the only manufacturer I knew of with the closest size to what I was looking for.
I yielded over 1gpw in that space. Could probably be better.

First pic is 3 mother plants sitting under its lowest setting. Closest top is about 12” from the light.. sure there’s signs of it stressing the plant a little.. but the 2 big ones are going into a 4x4 this week for cuts to be taken, and flipped. I’ve already pruned the bottom, and center to prep them. I have zero issues. It works fine for me. Tent is 79”tall btw.
Second pic is grease monkey in week 10.

Seems like I run out of headroom anytime. I run a haze or any type of City diesel. That light definitely didn't help my personal situation. With the 8-ft1 gorilla extension heat was still my main issue.
