Best light for my $$... Lighting Questions?

OK so im moving in to a new place and was going to build a stealth wardrobe closet style box for my next grow. Its going to be a straight flowering box to, keep in mind. So My question for light is " should I use a 250w HPS or should I get a 4 or 6 bulb T5 fluoresent? " Ill also proably be doing SOC/SROG or LST, im pretty sure. i really havent figure out the dimentions to the cab yet, that will also more then likely what light goes in to. maybe like 7ft tall x 4-5ft wide x 2-3 ft deep. im thinking. IF you have any ideas ill take them to! thank RIU

why not the T5??? im confused the one i was looking at says puts out 20,000 lumens i think. isnt that more than the 250w HPS?

they dont throw light as deep into the plants and you will need to grow very short plants. i would get a 400hps and cool it and your closet will rock.and a couple cfls for starting seeds and clones on the top shelf.

T5s are primarily for vegging and not fot flowering because of the color spectrum.

I have never done a cabinet style grow before but in my experiance with cfl's,metal halides and HPS lighting it seems to me that in and enclosed space as you are describing cfl's or up to a 400w with proper ventilation to deal with heat issues woulg suffice. If this is going to be in say your bedroom, I'd go with a digital ballast to avoid extra heat in the bedroom. JMO

you can get flower tubes for t5s(2700k) and they will do fine on the tops. without lots of side lighting or shorter plants they will be small fluffy nugs. i have a t5 in my clone box (2700k) and the clones love it, but they stretch for the light if it is not right on top of them(1"-2" away). get a 250 hid or go big 400 hid and cool it

Hey I have them both!!

400w HPS- 3 plants under it(thick plants growing pretty fast,a little too fast)
((6)) 4' Vitalume Grow T5's- Leaves are fluffier and getting more white trichomes everywhere and looks better!!

I can send pics if you want PM me or check out my grow!!

I don't have specific pictures showing which is which but I will sooner or later when I feel like it hahaha
