Best lighting option?

I am ordering one of these GGT 2x2.5x5’11 grow tents for the closet and was wondering what my best lighting option for it would be? Not a ton of space in the closet so anything that runs real hot would be a disaster.

I want something thats going to work well, run cool, and produce good yields. Looking forward to some recommendations! Thanks guys.

HLG 135w kit, from horticultural lighting group if you don't mind screwing a couple of screws and fitting the plug, or from growers lights fully assembled if you want to pay $25 extra for the convenience.

https://horticulturelightinggroup.com/products/135w-qb-v2-led-kit also available in version 1 a bit cheaper.

You will still need some sort of fan for removing heat and exchanging air, but using an efficient light allows you to use less wattage and have less heat overall.

My exhaust runs every 10 min or so to keep temps around 80.

I plan to run a clip on fan inside to circulate and I also plan to run a carbon Scrubber and fan to exhaust it out deeming I can fit one in there with a light.

Thank you good sir. The HLG 135 kit is a real possibility unless I find a better led light that I like.

My biggest worry is space in such a small tent. Figure I’ll lose a foot probably just in a smart pot set up so it’s not sitting in run off, then you gotta figure in the space you need to be above canopy and the size of the light itself. I like this light but it looks like the HLG 135 is slim enough that it looks like I could get it up pretty far to the top of the tent .

135 kit would be perfect for you. Mount the driver away from the board if you can for less heat. Mine now live on top of the tent.

is corey getting commission cuz he's selling those lights left and right....
I just own some, bought them when they first came out, built my own cob light before that, would recommend doing that also and getting parts from anywhere but most folks who come on here don't start with the idea of doing a full light build from scratch.

So yeah I will recommend them all day long if they fit the space and budget because I was impressed with them, compared to my cobs they are light weight and less cumbersome.
I think that's the case for most if not all folks that recommend them, but can see why someone might think otherwise.
Most of my posting is in grow room design and nothing to do with lights. Im not an elitist, just a grower here to help anyone that asks. :bigjoint:

Do you think this would fit with the HLG 135?
It would yeah, not gona lie, a small tent is a bit restrictive in height, but your tent is higher than most tents of that size by 11 inch.
Currently im just running a 2x4x5 and using an old 8" filter that I had lying around, its tight because an 8" rhino is massive and I only have 5ft, but that filter is way smaller and you have extra height already. I would run the extractor outside the tent though.
You will want to train plants low in veg and maintain that when you flip to flower. Scrog is a good way to maximise your space while keeping it low profile. With that light you want to be 2ft from canopy, maybe 18" at lowest when plants are conditioned to the light levels. Dim it plenty with young plants and crank it up a bit in veg, full whack in flower.

You can get a fan and filter up there no problem. I have the exact same tent with a timber vero 200 watt hung below. I have a “s and p td 100x fan” directly attached to a 4” can lite filter. My filter is 16” long and I had to mount it on an angle across the top in order to fit.
If I was doing it again I would get a slightly more powerful extraction fan although I like the fact that mine is almost silent. And I think phresh makes a 12” long filter that would be a better length. My setup works fine unless my garage gets above 20c. Then I have to dim the lights because of heat.
Mounting the extraction fan outside like said above is also a good idea I just wanted it as silent as possible.

Question for all of you fine people who have lended me some advice... Deeming money isn’t a problem for me, what would be the better choice for my space? The HLG 135, HLG 160 or the black dog PhytoMAX-2 200? The BD is obviously a lot more expensive but I’m not worried about that. Is it worth the extra cost and would it be overkill for my space? Thanks guys those are the 3 I’ve narrowed it down to.
