I worked and volunteered in a nursing home for close to ten years, still go back time and time again. But I needed up running the activities department for the most part, I found that to be the most rewarding. Yes food prep and what not helps but they have to eat and they know that it's great to see them actually enjoy themselves in the activities room. Seeing a genuine smile on the oldest nastiest bitch granny you could ever imagine is something you need to experience. Best of luck in your journeyThank you for the replies. Working WITH animals won't work so much for me because of all my nerd allergies.

I'm thinking more so in line with volunteering as a companion for the Elderly. I've always wanted to do that but never have for some reason.
I'm sure it would be sad sometimes. I don't mind sad though, as long as I'm helping.
