Best soil for supperroots air pots?

I want to overwinter a few clones and I was wondering what is the best soil to put into 2 gal superroots air pots? I plan to take clones from these and then put them all into the ground come spring.

I'd like to find a soil that:

-- stays well in the air pots;

-- holds water and nutrients a little bit so I don't have to water every day;

-- will be fine to transplant into the ground.

Thank you! +reps for thoughtful replies :)

Not sure what is out there that is better than Happy Frog, avail at lowes and home depot and most nurseries.

Holds water very well, and of course east to transplant into the ground.

Best of luck

Thanks for the response, Chris. Have you used the Happy Frog in superroots?

I'm unfamiliar with most brands because I typically don't use containers and really have been using a mix of whatever I have on hand for starting in nursery pots.

me and my grow mentor both used them last year he with FF and me with composted soil...

I saved more money crop was the same to me... grew 3-4 same strains

I tossed the pots this year as did he (the smaller ones under 15 gal ) he used a few 20's this year and I wont use em again..

hated what looked like salt all over the outside and appears to be growing some sort of fungas (all ours did this) I washed a few of em to reuse this year but went for larger pots

SBW - Somehow, I've never gotten mold so I wasn't worried. Have you had problems with the air pots?

gioua - sorry to hear that!

Lol - I had to hit the urban slang dictionary - you guys keep me on my toes :cool:

I once molded a nice cola pretty badly because I am an idiot. It was cut and I have only myself to blame.

I grow sativa doms and they are airier, too. This year with the LST, though, they are much bushier so I'm not out of the woods yet.

Kelloggs Patio Plus......cheap, good amount of perlite, and stable ph.

Add some amendments for nutes and you will be good to go

the best way to get the perfect soil for you is to make it, man. Just get some Loam,Humus,Peat moss,Compost,Blood meal,Bone meal,Perlite and Dolomite to stabilize pH. mix the stuff together until its fluffy, moist and a solid color.

I have nothing against blending soil, but was looking for a recipe that works well in the air pots.
