STS doesn't change the genetics, it only makes the gene pool half the material given only one parent, and if done right doesn't increase hermie rate. natural selfed plants however carry genetic tendency which is diff, and literally the opposite of what you said. gl because I think you do more reading than growing and you should as someone else pointed out just "pop some beans bro"We already control traits in common plants, through breeding.
The reason there are a good representation of hermies plants, is because the end goal is cut short with the use of STS!
The choice to use STS and hermies material is perfectly logical.
What I was explaining, was some Breeders are better than others at reducing the instance of hermies offspring.
I am interested to hear if any breeders set out to omit or breed hermies out of final offerings.
Calm down? Wtf you on about bro?No, there are clearly growers that do better than others!
If seeds throw hermies without affecting the cuttings and smoke, no one should care.
If Growers want to grow quality seed for breeding, it is another subject.
Calm down.

I think that rebuttle compared to mine, which you cut short, shows what we are dealing with here lol.I think you are being a boof head
Perhaps when the industry is regulated, nibble, nibbleWho specialises in Hermies free regular seed, for the purpose of Breeding Programs?
Can we make a short list.
Karma has a good solid lineup right now. His Sour Diesel isnt a hermi prone version and his Biker male is a good one that he worked to make. He collaborates with other decent breeders on projects and seems like a decent guy that started out small and built a fan base over at ICmag and bloomed from there. Hes not just taking most popular clone onlys and feminizing it to everything like most breeders do nowadays for quick buck when he could if he chose to.Seeds produced for consumer cuttings, can sometimes have hermies or sterile male flowers!

You’re conflating S1’s and fems again. You’re not removing half the gene pool when making fems. You’re just removing the Y chromosome.STS doesn't change the genetics, it only makes the gene pool half the material given only one parent, and if done right doesn't increase hermie rate. natural selfed plants however carry genetic tendency which is diff, and literally the opposite of what you said. gl because I think you do more reading than growing and you should as someone else pointed out just "pop some beans bro"
to explain why some ppl misunderstand this they are selfing using STS a plant that they know herms. the silver treatment isn't making it herm more. you just are using genetics from only a plant that is more likely to herm. so when someone uses STS wrong on a plant that already herms geneticly then you can get herms up to double the rate and it would seem likely to blame the STS but it isn't.
also dude if you don't want herms ever then Ig you would forgo shit like gsc or it's progeny like sherbert, these are way herm prone stock that ppl work with, reputable ppl, and it's known to potentially pass on herms to it's kids. it becomes the breeders job to sift this first wave or two or make his/her testers aware he has not. this is how you ca
lolol, but I thought I made it clear this time, I said selfed not fem and I pointed out a self selfed is diff than a sts selfed, which was my only point really, that sts doesn't increase herm rate but selfing can if the plant selfs itselfYou’re conflating S1’s and fems again. You’re not removing half the gene pool when making fems. You’re just removing the Y chromosome.
When the industry is regulated a large portion people growing right now as a hobby will likely stop because it will cost so much more to grow your own or homegrown will be illegal again.Perhaps when the industry is regulated, nibble, nibble
So true! Way too many cooks in the kitchen. Weed was better before it was Medical. I've been to a few recreational places and they are even worse. You basically got to grow your own now. When the industry is regulated a large portion people growing right now as a hobby will likely stop because it will cost so much more to grow your own or homegrown will be illegal again.
You think the people adding straight chemicals to tobacco grown in trash soil, sprayed with who knows what are gonna be growing sensi you can smoke? That doesn't need turned into oil?
Maybe but the pre roll market is gonna be their best bet for selling it. You think people are gonna want to smoke weed they can inspect and tell no one gave a shit about it being good? All they need from it is availability.
Once the super duper sized guys come in 90% of their crops are gonna be burnt up and full of seeds, destined for edibles and cartridges.
If they don't force the smaller guys out of operation, maybe you'll still be able to go to a locally owned dispensary and smoke decent quality flowers.
I'm not sure what's gonna happen but I don't think regulation is gonna fix shit, let alone be the savior of the marijuana enthusiast community. Look at how fucked up anything regulated by the federal government is and tell me that's gonna stop "breeders" putting out seeds prone to hermi.
Our paths are the same.First off..welcome! Aussies grow some super Bud.
I can't stand intersexual traits and how everyone defends it. Yes it's natural but so is hemp. Many breeders use popular cuts that are known to throw nanners. Seems a sign of the times where people are comfortable with strains that throw nanners yet are scared of real Males.
Avoid Cookie and Cookies hybrids
Avoid some Chemdog and Gorilla Glue too.
Avoid Sour Diesel.
Find some females and stress test them. If they throw nanners ditch the genetics otherwise use it in your genepool. Many older genetics have been worked for generations before the initial F1 hybrid. Many legendary cuts came from breeding stable pure genetics together. Get to know what and how each hybrid you're considering buying was made. Not just the breeder but how the cuts they used we're made and if any red flag cuts or selections were used in making those cuts. For example Gorilla Glue is a pheno from seeds grown out from a hermed room accident whose seeds hermed and made more seeds. One pheno from that mess was the GG4. Not quite properly bred so no wonder the offspring have a tendancy of throwing nanners. Know the cuts the breeders are working with and get to know their males too. Research each seedline seperately. If you see any reports of intersexual traits then avoid. I agree you can practically breed these traits out of the genepool with hard work and selection over many generations. This used to be something breeders actually worked towards. l buy seeds mostly for males. Therefore I need to be very careful with which ones I use. Keep your own seedlines going and do not introduce unstable genetics into your genepool. Last year only one new seedline passed my tests and it was from a local breeder. Ironically it had Chem in it, but passed all tests nonetheless. Be very selective.
WASHED OUT GENETICS.....I see beauty plants but the high is lacking any length and depth ,So true! Way too many cooks in the kitchen. Weed was better before it was Medical. I've been to a few recreational places and they are even worse. You basically got to grow your own now.
Breeders CrockYou might miss out on a lot of good shit if you are just immediately tossing any plants that show a nanner or two.
