Best water setup?

I am going to run a water line to my room. Pre carbon filter and RO system with 55g rain barrel. Would love to hear about some other setups, types of RO and carbon filters used!

well i mean RO is RO different systems really just have higher output levels... 0ppm water is 0ppm water.. they have alt of the new ones with ultraviolet sterilizing which IMOP is useless and a sales gimmick because your sterilizing filtered water any bacteria coming through after the point of filtering and RO membrane run isn't anything that would harm your plant ever.

i would hover say don't get the new skinny ones or ones that require special filter sizes.. the last thing you want is to have to search for pre filters and crap or not be able to get them if the company somehow dies out.

I've always ran saltwater fish tanks till recently..... so I'm a huge fan on the filterguyz.biz quality parts... cheap.. fast shipping and excellent output levels for the price..

I don't have the need for RO but for my filter I use a hydrologic big boy with kdf carbon filter. Works great, water comes out of it at hose pressure

I always recommend those for just watering... they are really truly what you want they leave all the goodies in and pull the bad crap out.. RO just pulls everything out.. but a lot of people don't get the whole PPM level thing and they overfeed with chemicals using those filter systems... but i personally am a huge fan of the 2 filter systems

Just checked out the filter guys. Looks awesome. Great prices. Anyone else used them?
they have a lot of add ons.... i would recommend... in line TDS meter.. they are only 30$ and they allow you to see your ppm coming in and going out so you know when your filters are getting dirty...

but outside that I've owned that system and the in line TDS meter since 2004... never replaced a single thing on it .. WELL FILTERS OBVIOUSLY.... but the seals are still good.. all the fittings are still good and don't leak.. plastic casings are still clear and nothings ever cracked... they have excellent out put.. i fill my 30 gallon resivor in a couple hours.

they guarantee their stuff too for life i think ... not 100% sure on that but i do know anyone who is serious about their saltwater tanks buys from them because their RO/DI systems produce some of the purest levels ... they are very well known in the coral/reefing community.

You guys are talking about soil right? I'm going to run rdwc so me needs 0 ppm water. Can and Mg be gone!

I have their water saving system. Water goes from 150 too 0 according to the inline meter. Waste water is 225ppm.

I use the water for everything. Drinking, plants, pets, fish, ect.

well i have RO/DI but thats for saltwater tanks you have no need or reason to be de-inonizing your water for plants.... you just need the 3 filter system + RO ... to get the 0ppm levels you want...

most salt tanks don't even require RO/DI ...its really designed for people who keep saltwater corals that are super finicky.....

I used to run an RO / DI system, just 'cause. I was briefly smitten with really pure water.

I agree. This new grow room of mine will use well water (as did the last one) but this is less hard, and no iron. I'll be running no-till for many generations, so Ca and Mg buildup might still be a concern. So I'll be lightly filtering it, just to drop some of the buildup potential.
