Hey guys I'm new to growing but keen to give it a go, what's your opinions on buying seeds in NZ? Any experience/advice would be greatly appreciated!

It appears quite a few people in NZ have used Attitude Seed Bank and paid for the stealth method and the success rate seemed pretty good. I have heard of some getting intercepted and the police mentioning it during interactions with the intended recipient years later.

If possible use cash or similar to pay. Pay for the stealth option. Get it sent to a false name at an address other than your house. I have also heard that it may be better to order from the UK or Spain as these are less watched than Holland or the US, but this may just be a rumour.

Good luck.

no. i don't buy seeds yet, i don't think i'm experienced enough for that, and i've harvested a few times.... i just use bagseed or i get free seeds from friends.....i still think i have a lot to learn to spend money on seeds.

but i know a guy who does and he buys from attitude....

he moved to australia a few years back, and last i heard from him he was still growing....

you use currency exchange rates and send them the cash. they go and exchange it back at the bank or somewhere else....

you ahve to go to their site and print out a form which you send with the cash..... if you decide to send cash do it with delivery confirmation and tracking.

Hi Scoobysteve, First of, i tried to buy my seeds through attitude, form completed- pushed submit and was told that the shipping address was not verified. So I just bought mine through Buydutchseeds.com last week, still waiting for them to arrive, should be here in two weeks or three they said, transaction was smooth showed up on my account same day. I got support emails answered in like an hour. Will sub this thread and post when they arrive.

Cheers farmerjoe420.

On another note, what wattage CFL would i need for a fish-tank setup? Would a 300W be enough? Only planning on one plant at the moment

yes 300w would be enough for one plant. i would reconsider the fish tank. 4 foot tall glass will not allow enough air flow to your plant.

even if theres a hole in it? the fish tank had an automatic drip set-up so there was power filter hoses going into it. probably about 2cm in diameter. I'm planning on mounting a small fan etc.
Or do you think I should switch to a closet or similar?

if you have good circulation you will probably be ok. i personally would use the closet or somewhere similar but there are no rules on how or where just as long as you create the right environment for your plant. i would imagine once your plant gets big it will start growing into glass and maybe then circulation would be a problem but let us know how it goes. throw some pics up. im a fish person myself. nothing like a little bud for the fishes. lol

yea I'm becoming more inclined to setting up a closet or drawer as I think about it more. Maybe I'll use the fish tanks I have later on when I'm more experienced. When I get back home in a few days I'll take some pics of the tanks and potential growing spaces anyway. If I used fish tanks I had a thought of growing it in gravel too!

I'm from New Zealand aswell, I've ordered off attitude a couple of times with no problem.
Thanks for that, I'm thinking either attitude or nirvana so far.

Also guys, what would be a good beginners NZ strain? I was thinking about Durban Poison, any thoughts? Indoor, easy to grow, sativa strains would be mostly appropriate :)
