Best way to fill big gaps in grow room

I have some large gaps to fill near the light that I am going to use in my grow space - 600 watt HPS. I am doing this under my basement stairs - it's the only place that would work. So, the angles and corners make it hard to cover with wood. I was thinking of just covering them with a layer of 3 mil plastic. The plastic would be about 6 inches from the outside of the reflector. Does it seem like this would get to hot for plastic? I have mylar I can use too.

Thanks for any help.

I think I got it pretty well sealed up now. I attach a picture anyway. It is kind of a messed up space to have to grow in. but, its under the stairs or no where.
