I hang my lights from the ceiling. I just make holes until I find something. Ceiling ends up looking like Swiss cheese but it's very effective.

Id be reluctant to call myself a male if I wasnt able to operate a drill and install a few screws

I dont know where they are in my walls either but a few taps and you can tell quite precisely where they are in the wall based on the thud

Dude fuck drilling holes. Just rest that hid on a couple chairs like you planned and you're golden. In no way is that a fire hazard. Trust me. My uncle knew a guy who was a janitor at a fire station one summer.

I agree. If you don't own the house you're at you don't want to be tearing it up hanging lights. You'd only need a tent for flowering. Anyway, it's your grow. Don't do anything you don't feel comfortable doing.

I tried the tapping thing for the beam..it all sounds the same..yes you can criticize me for not being a 'man' because i'm not into tools..im sure with that train of thought..you'd figure a woman isn't a woman if she can't clean or cook? lol..you watch too much tv! ;)
In the end, i managed to get what i need with pvc pipes and built a frame to hang the light from. I figured i can always add and modify the frame if i need more lights...i'll have sheets of mylar hanging on 3 sides. The heat seems manageable for now with a fan, still freezing temps here. The brightness is impressive..easily blows my '376 true watt' cob and mars 300 combo away! Put 2 auto's and a photo at 2-3 weeks old under them..light at 20 inches from plants. Will be starting alien vs triangle and 4 assed monkey from mephisto this week.

I would have mentioned a DIY PVC stand but... Sounds like you got it handled which is all that matters. You are going to like the 600's compared to what you were using.

Did you use the 2" PVC? It's more than strong enough.

I do all the cooking at my house. The girl can hardly boil water. I on the other hand am an exceptional cook. She has other skills that I appreciate. So it all works out.

For anyone interested I'm renting and didn't want to damage the house in anyway so i ended up using fishing magnets with eyelets, I got inside the roof space and glued pieces of steal where the light would go then from inside the room connected powerful magnets to the drywall where the steal was. ended up hanging 9 lights , when we have inspections i can separate the magnet from the roof leaving no damage.
